Morning,
Well the kids are back in school and guess what, I have a cold.
No big surprise.
I was wondering what methods other people might use to get rid of their colds.
I cut up garlic and take it about 3 times a day for about 3 to 4 days.
Most times it seems to lessen the cold/flu symptons.
And for sore throats I drink something hot with lemon and honey.

My sister and I eat two lemons and OD ourselves on the vitamin C.. thank goodness no more pucker face.. we are used to it since we have been eating them like fruit since we were small. Was a game to see who can make the pucker face first.

Oterh than that I had a flu shot 2 years ago and have not sick since then.. knock on wood

I used to use Nyquil.. that stuff knocks me out and feel better in a couple of days.

Good afternoon.

Sorry to hear your sick. I know how you feel. I was sick one night this week. No fun. And my son of course was the one who brought it from school. Now my daughter who is just about to turn 6 months has it and we had to take her to the hospital last night. No fun.

For myself it all depends on how bad my flu is. If its really really bad, I take Advils cold and sinus. For me they work great. I also drink a lot of Orange Juice and try to eat veggies and soups. Anything with lots of vitamins in it.

Hope you feel better real soon!

comfort

For me extra sleep usually helps fight my colds. Simple as that! rest, rest and more rest plus anything with vitamin C for sure helps my kids and i too.

-drink tons of water..enough to go pee, more than the usual average. It will flush the virus or bacteria out of your system

-gargles warm water with salt..it usually eleviates sore throats

-get as much sleep/rest as possible

-avoid coffee, pop, alcohol - they will dehydrate your body

-try orange juice with pulp; it helps to increase your immune system

-if your appetite has decreased - try salted crackers..this along with the right fluid intake will replenish and balance off your electrolyte levels

-try tobasco sauce (as tolerated)..it'll help to clear any congestion/sinuses

-wash your hands..such an under-rated defense against sickness

-talk to your doctor or pharmacist...never by shy to get a second opinion, regarding your health.

I eat raw garlic (ugh!), drink lots of water, sleep lots, try to take Vitamin C, Echinacea (or however u spell it!), wash my hands after i touch everything and anyone. Plus i "always" cover my mouth when i cough (ever notice how many ppl dont and are either sick or smoke too much...or are just too ignorant to care?!), 'because the flu/cold is an airborne virus....scold comfort
