Quebec Nationhood?

The P.M announced a motion is being put forth in Parliament to grant Quebec "Nationhood, but not separate." How wishy washy is that! Typical Ottawa B.S. If Quebec really wants Nationhood, let them go. They can go be a third world country to their heart's content. If they choose to stay, then accept being part of the "Nation" of Canada.

I would hate to see Quebec leave. They add a special component to our country.

I admit, my post was somewhat reactionary. I want Quebec in Canada! I'm just not sure what this latest motion is all about. It does seem like a lot of political hot air...I don't fully understand it. If someone could shed more light on this issue for me, I would be grateful.

I am going to read into this a lot more..It has been said that if Quebec is divisable, and then the rest of Canada is divisable, so, Ontario should just become an 51st state of the United States of America...

One more thing...What is it with our Prime Minister...first he surprised everyone with the about face on the income trust funds, and now this, right out of the blue, what will he pull out of the hat next?

It's not out of the blue. The BQ was going to put forth something similar declaring Quebec a Nation without the part of Canada being inclusive.

He's being proactive ... and probably losing the votes he would have needed in Quebec. Here comes another election.

Having been born in Quebec.. I would have to declare my citizenship if they separate. Just think how fast we could get to the east coast if Quebec separates!! (hahaha)
As was said earlier, it is just a lot of political hot air. Would really hate for Quebec to separate..

From a practical perspective, not paying attention to various rights and what have you, a solution to the pro-separatist whining would be to disperse the French crowd from Quebec amongst some of the most thoroughly English speaking areas of the country, to prevent them from ever being politically strong again, and repopulate that province with English speaking settlers. professor

you MUST be joking with your 'wishy washy' BS!!
You want to take a stand?...then stop playing with semantic words like so many cheap politicians do.

Perhaps you just need to get laid.
Grow up!!!
