It's been in the news that a father from Quebec ground his 12 year old daughter from going on a field trip for a few days to celebrate the graduating class, why, because he caught her posting her pics on a dating site. The father has full custody of the girl, but since that incident she slammed the door and left to go live with her mother.
What is a 12 year old doing, posting pics on a dating site?
Now,if her father can't ground her, what is he to do...his hand are tied
I want to know in this day and age when so many kids are being abused, what is a proper discipline for this young lady.

This was not abuse, but it seems a child even an adult can cry abuse, for the slightest thing.

JMO, the father's punishment was justified and not abusive.

So many experts crying abuse, and kids know how to use that word. We are being told how we can raise our kids, and not teach them manners, etc. Then if the kids get out of hand, the parents are told it's because they were not strict enough.

I'm glad I'm done raising my kids. Glad I'm not dealing with a teacher who phoned every night to talk about the kids behavior and tell me to be a better parent. In her opinion, if a child was autistic, ADHD, or dyslexic, it was because the mother was cold distant, abusive, and neglectful. In another family, their child was removed from the home because of this teacher. She is not teaching anymore. (Another parent who was a psychologist, started to get the same phone calls, and recorded them.)

I feel sorry for the father in that story. More so for that daughter, out of concern she will get more out of control. (It's just a concern, lots of kids turn out great after having a difficult adolescence.)

Can only suggest you follow your instincts, patience, watch and listen to the child, but time out.... is golden. grin

I too heard this news story. I just shock my head from side to side. I think the judge has ended up harming the child more.
