No it does not matter. 20 yrs might be a bit of a stretch.

Even today on some show, women mentioned males in their age range (40+) are looking for women in their 30's or younger. One woman said she did not like the idea of dating someone her father's age. I agree that I would not like to date someone my father's age. Someone 25 yrs older than I am, might be a great friend and the best person to have in my life, but I guess, someone I can talk about things from my generation would be more to my liking (as a partner/lover). There are many couples that are able to have a successful relationship with this big an age difference. My aunt was 17 yrs younger than her husband. They truly loved each other. No matter what, they still had that glow in their eyes when they looked at each other. I also watched her go down hill and so alone when my uncle passed away.

I guess it depends on the couple involved. If they are with each other, are good to and for each other, the rest should not be anyone's business.

hmm let me put it this way, he (not from a date site) was not interested in being introduced to someone over 50 yrs old let alone a 51 yr old. He is 48 yrs old. Never say never.

thanks for the imput....myself I have dated girls between 23 and 68..and they wer happy and confident in who they are and where they were in life..and we got along just fine..jsut wanted to know others opinons..thanks.

I have no problem with age. But, unfortunately, I think there are some things that I personally need to consider as far as age goes. Women generally outlive men as a rule and of course there are exceptions to that rule.

If I was to get into a relationship with a woman that was say 10 years younger, and that would be about my maximum age difference...5 is ideal for me, but when I am 75...she would just be retiring (maybe). The average lifespan of a North American male is about 76-78 years. That would leave a woman who has just retired a widow. Could be fun, but then again, could also make things tough for her as well. I would have to consider this and the implications of it before I went too far outside my ideal age bracket. And also as KHD says, it is always nice to have somebody you can talk to about when dinosaurs walked on the earth as well.

5 years either way is cool.......but that about sums it up

NOOOOOOOOOOOO, 20 something is IMPOSSIBLE....early 30's FORGET IT.....

55 PLUS is a no-no too.....

I am young at heart.....but on the flipside, responsible......

too young = looking for a sugar momma

too old = looking to re-live his youth

Yes age does matter to a point...

For me i would go either way..10 years....

but can you imagine me going out with a 18 year old or even 20...

They are still immature and learning and growing...

I have an 18 year old..

So nope/never to that...

i think most that age..wants a second mommy..do everything for them

I think life can be very complicated at times because this is a touchy subject. Again what makes life so amazing is that on each topic we all see things differen to one another and really its no different to how I just said it.

First let me say I dont see age different as a big problem but then its something that being in anyone elses shoes differs because :

1 - Being a man of maybe in your 20's and 30's and wanting a relationship with women above 40.

This can have more con's than pro's and one of the biggest con' is the "CHILD TOPIC". I he wants children or more children and she cant give him any....almost sure he will go outside the relationship and make them.

When she might not have the urge for sex sometimes and he might have because seeing that he is younger and maybe wants to prove himself and sometimes she might be exhausted....you can be almost sure that he tends to look for satisfaction outside (especially if he is not someone with patience and an open mind).

Sorry to say this guys but some men also are not yet matured and a women way much older than you might see things differently and there is where the miscommunication might start.

2 - More often relationships between women 30's and older men can work out to an extent.

Men can still make children at an older age and as long as the two in question can see with each other and they settle for each other. A woman in her 30's can make kids and this is and wont be an issue whereas women in their 20's you wont find that often with men in their mid 40's and 50's.

Not being of finding themself being old the younger women will want to go out, have a nice time and not always will the older men see themself doing this and one really big problem you can have here is that she might find he is not willing or he might eventually accuse her of mixing with someone at the club and blah blah blah...

This is a really complex situation and what I just summed up here are just a few...there are alot more to having a relationship with someone much younger or older than you....as I said ....It differs from situations.....

in my preferance age matters a lot to me. i would never go out with someone 10 years older than me...i like men close to my age not age gaps.

I never used to think that age could be an issue, until I experienced it. Ten years either way isn't a big deal, but beyond that...I think you start getting into some deeper issues of mommy/daddy stuff. Maybe it works for some people, everyone is different. But this is just from my own experience. For me though, older men...they tend to age like a fine wine. (some of them anyway!)

now at my age ..i have a bit of a problem with this age issue..im not bragging but i dont look my age...and i dont feel it..(at least MOST days..when my arthritis doesnt flare up..lol..lol)..but i feel i have a lot more in common with people in their 30s..and for some strange reason the few guys i find very attractive happen to be in their late 30s..now 38,39 might not be much of a difference from 49 in some ways,espescially if the 2 peopl look the same age...BUT..i have this bit of a problem where..if i were to meet a guy in that age bracket..he could think he could "rub it in my face" that he's younger (even tho i could probably show HIM a thing or 2..lol..and even tho HE might not be able to keep up with ME!!..LOL).. but..theres the problem..i would PREFER that the guy is OLDER than me..but it happens that most guys that i actually find very attractive are in their late 30s...hmmmm..what to do...lol

Yes it does matter greatly, if its a man younger than the woman in his life, its all well and good until an arguement arises then is when it will be slapped in the ladies face that she is old. If a man is much older than the woman he can be humiliated when they go out by being mistaken for her father. Big age gaps are a nightmare. I would not marry a younger man again even a couple of years makes a difference.If you are happy thats all that counts and it works for you great.
