novice: This whole conversation seems somewhat ridiculous to me. Putting health issues aside, we don't pick our friends by size but instead by personality, caring attitudes, good humour and things in common. Why should it be any different in picking a partner to share your life with

What is in your head, your heart and how you behave to others should be the important issues. In the end, when you get wonderful things, you really don't care how it was originally boxed. You can find wonderful treasures in packages of any size. You really just have to take the time to look and not prejudge or guess
applause Have to give you a hand for that, very well said good on you!! Fat women are more fun and less inhibitions.applause

AlbertaGirl You sure it's your weight scaring men away? or could it be because you have children? Not all men want to get involved with a woman with kids.

It was just a thought.dunno

I cannot lie and say that I think that large women are more physically attractive to me than slim curvy ones, but I tell the truth when I say that they are generally much more appealing in a mental or personal way. Worldly beauty somehow seems to take away from inner beauty. What a bummer.

Inner beauty comes from turmoil and struggle and victory over life’s challenges. It is not, like outer beauty, a default setting, and subject to preferential treatment.

Hi everyone:

I am a curvy, plus size woman, and healthy. I work two jobs, one full-time, one part-time AND take University classes, and still men find things wrong with my appearance. They don't look at my education, hard work and morals. They want spontaneous sex and a trophy to show the boys.

Now this is the kicker. I used to be very, very slim before my children were born, and men were very attracted to me, however they treated me like a sex object, with no real intentions on settling down. Then I got lucky, got married, had two marvelous children, AND then my good looking husband took off with a woman who was 13 years younger than me (just after the second child was born and before my weight gain). I guess it was the responsibility of settling down and being a real dad that got to him.

confused

As the years rolled on by, and the stress of raising my children alone got to me, I put weight on. By the way, weight gain is not only from over eating, it is from stress, eating at the wrong time of day, and taking presciption meds. All these factors won't allow a woman's metabolism to burn calories, hence ALL calories are stored and not used. Loosing weight doesn't just happen from exercise and pulling away from the table, it's a lot more complicated than that. It requires a kick start with natural herbs and vitamins to flush out the fat, start up the metabolism, and energize the body so it can exercise. Women's bodies were designed to have children, not look like a pre-teen. Ladies, have you noticed that the skinny models do not have children, starve themselves to look that way and throw up all their meals to keep their weight down. Men love skinny women because they represent youth and mortality. What a shame. Skinny women don't look good naked either. They have bones sticking out all over.

I find 80% of men to be very vain, because they want a trophy prize to show off to their friends; but let's face it, the trophy girlfriend is high maintenance and her clothes, cosmetics, gym fees all cost money. Life is all about her. If they married them they would be "poor". yay Those that do marry them have so many marital problems, because every man wants them too, and they have to put up with men hitting on their girlfriends/wife and possible infidelity.

What amazes me the most is when I see a very heavy set guy on a dating website say, he wants a skinny woman not a larger sized woman. I just laugh because he is indeed shallow. What would a skinny model type be doing with a man 3 or 4 times her size, except for financial stability.

I have also found that when divorced or widowed men are looking for love the second time around are looking for the "woman of their dreams" - the one they dreamed up and unrealistically she doesn't exist. They have been hurt or have hurt their wife, and now it's their turn to get even.

I dated a man who lost his wife of 22 years to cancer. I dated him for one whole year, and then he went on a trip to Edmonton, for business, came back and told me it was over, just like that. Two months later he married "the woman of his dreams", and one year later he told me he regretted it, because he was smitten "by her looks". He didn't wait to see if they were really compatible. He said she was moody, selfish and they didn't have good sex. He told me he found me "too heavy" and wanted a skinnier version. He has now settled for the good looks.

I think you can't win either way, and it pays to be just yourself.

most men prefer a woman with a little meat on her bones. which is good . however i also find it hard because there are also alot of men who dont, and it seems to me that all the men i am attracted to dont like the extra weight.
all i can say for sure is that for the men that dont like a little weight, you are likely giving up the best thing ever. i cant answer for every overweight woman but i can for myself , and i personally am not materialistic, i dont care for the fine wineing and dining. so men remember one thing, dont pass someone up just because of a little weight, cause we may just be 'THE ONE"

ok thanks for the laugh. that was great!!!!!
I am a plus sized woman. i wear a size 18. have always been big except right before i got married when i was wearing a size 12...that didn't last long...neither did the marriage:)
anyway. what confusses me is what ppl think is too far overweight.on a person who normally weighs 115lbs you notice a 30 pound gain. on a 200 lbs woman you barely even notice a 30 lb gain. I am 5'6" and 250lbs. I have big boobs, big thighs and hips but still have a waist line. i am proportional i guess. would like to lose some weight but have a bad back that limits my acivities. not all larger ppl are larger due to food intake.
I have found that a smile goes a long way to helping meet ppl.
Oh yeah and all women who are larger are not happy all the time. i hate that stereo type.
i do like to hug a man who has some weight to him. I am sure men who are overweight are thinking the same as you Alberta girl. But don't give the guys time to look elsewhere. take the bull by the horn( per say) and go after what you like. then let them decide. maybe you should put in your profile right off the bat that you are a certain size and comfortable with that. that would maybe weed out those that have a preference for other shaped women
eyesthatknowwhy: Sorry, not meaning to hijack your thread Alberta, but seen this on the Int'l Forum and just had to paste it here - somehow "fits"

Exercise

Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.
My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where he is.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.

Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, he looks good doesn't he.'

If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years, just getting over the hill.

We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

AND

Every time I start thinking too much about how I look, I just find a bar and by the time I leave, I look just fine.
