I think this might help.

I put this in my profile which dramatically weeds out the selfish/self-centred feminists and the ones overseas who are just after us Canadian men for their landed immigration status by marrying us and then dumping us shortly afterwards:

"If you are a modern feminist, on government assistance, or looking to gain access to Canada through marriage or angry with men like we see in modern North American TV [Cat Food - Wiskas] advertising, PLEASE DO NOT contact me. I am not interested at all in short-term, non-committed relationships, like what is seen in "Sex in the City". I am looking for my equal to complete me; not compete with me or marry me for money or status."

Hi There:

Since the internet became a huge dating vehicle, many people are exploring the desires of their heart.

I have met 4 people outside of my country (Canada) and can honestly say they were very genuine people. I met a medical doctor from India and he came to visit me for 2 weeks. He has sent me numerous invitations to come to India, but because of the political unrest there, I have not accepted. I met a person from England and joined them in California for a 3 week holiday with friends of theirs, after establishing a relationship with that person for 2 years, and it was great! I met someone from the U.S. (New York) when they were passing through Grand Forks, North Dakota (3 hours from my City - I took a friend with me).
I met someone in Kansas when I visiting friends and now we are friends.

If a person contacts you from another 3rd world country, then there has to be several questions you need to ask yourself. Is this a marriage for convenience, or is this legit. A lot of the times it is someone trying to better themselves. In most cases it is a matter of convenience.

If a person within North America is exploring new possibilities than the answer is different because the culture is somewhat similar.

Some people are very adventurous and are very assertive. Playing it safe is always the best way, if you are not into inter-national relationships.

If marriage is brought up then you deal with the subject, square on the head. Don't pussy foot around, you tell them, you are not interested in an International Relationship. You won't hurt their feelings, because that is what they are seeking.

Wantedman: Is anyone else being contacted by those from other countries or far off places? How do you deal with them? They normally bring up marriage, how do you deal with that?

What are ways to tell the sincere contacts from the scammers?The reason I ask is that I'm getting woman from all over the place contacting me and then requesting that I contact them on there email. Not sure why they cant use this free sites email system.

So I'm wondering who else is having this happen and how do you sort through the real ones over the scammers?

well, so many comments about eastern ladies , so maybe it is time to interfere:) So many people complained about all flaws possible, but nobody mentioned that we are also attractive, femminine, hard working and family oriented .

Dear Canadian and American ladies, it is not our fault that we know how to get dressed and how to attract a man, these skills are developed from a severe competition - 7 ladies for one guy, how you like it? :) So absolutely nothing to be jealous about...

Dear Canadian and American gentlemen, we also have one of the highest educational rates.. But you don't care about that when you see a young mermaid on the picture :) And the first thing that is usually offered here - I am rich, i can help you to get visa. So when you try to buy a girl, that you could never afford in the reality because she is pretty and 30 years younger... what to complain about?

It is a lottery and equal game.. be smart but keep your heart open.

We, CANADIAN WOMEN, are smart, witty, fashionable,COMPASSIONATE, INDEPENDANT, AND BEAUTIFUL in every sense of the word, and A CANADIAN CITIZEN I may add....

We are NOT and may I repeat NOT in competition with YOUR culture or any OTHER culture at that.....

We ALREADY HAVE THE MEN HERE....WE ARE JUST CHOOSY AS TO WHO WE WANT TO BE WITH....

but if the stats are true, LADIES OF YOUR CULTURE, THERE ARE 8 MEN TO EACH WOMAN...SO WHY ARE YOU LOOKING HERE????

CANADIAN MEN ARE AWESOME....AS ARE OUR NEIGHBOURS THE AMERICANS....

I was contacted by a man from Iraq, I was polite to him, but hey, reality is, do you really think I have any notions about going there, or having him come here? I don't think so! I am however quite happy to meet new friends and chat. Ultimately, I am hoping to meet someone a little closer to home. yay

I've enjoyed the contact from women, and men, from all over the world. A few have turned out to be something other than what they presented themselves to be, but overall, it's been a rather pleasant experience thus far.

I have to agree, some North American and western women do seem to have a false sense of entitlement that has been perpetuated over the last few generations. You can thank Hollywood for a lot of that. Faerie tales are just that, faerie tales.laugh

personally i dont respond to anyone from outside of canada, i am also on another site and i tend to get messages from men from places as far as africa. i dont plan on going to those places so i dont bother with them.
i also think that some might be scams.
there is not way to tell who you are talking to. i try to make sure that i see a picture, you can usually tell if they are real or not.
go by gut instinct.. only way to go, and see what happens from there

I have to say, reading a few of these posts has almost caused me to have an accident!! I've had some REALLY good laughs.

I'm one of those people who try to find my fun wherever it pops up and the scammers are GREAT fun to play with! I find that turning the tables on them is GOBS of fun...lol You can string them along for weeks at a time before they finally spit the hook and dive for the bottom. Then again, I also have great sport with telemarketers and door-to-door salesmen. I've also been known to try and convert door-to-door evangelical canvassers to whatever brand of hedonistic silliness pops into my head when I answer the door. (A friend of mine used to answer the door naked) Gotta watch out for us Maritimers!! rolling on the floor laughing

I think what I'm trying to say is that it's the NET, people!! There ARE those of us who are EXACTLY who and what we say we are...then there are the bottom-feeders. If we do it right and stay smart, there is an unlimited amount of fun to be had with the latter group. Let's have at 'em I say....torment 'em til they beg for mercy and run for cover!! Give 'em a collective tongue

The very special guy, I have been in correspondence with for ~ 6 months and we are currently making plans to meet.

He is Originally from India. He has been here in the states for ~ 4-5 yrs. He currently temporairily returned to India, for a family funeral.


I decided when I joined CS International, to accept the possibility that I might connect with someone from abroad.

I decided to treat the relationship the same as one I might, meet in person, if it happened.


It is more difficult, however, corresponding by email, IM and IP-Relay, does make it easier for me to communicate w/o the shyness.


We have developed deep feelings for each other. So now it is time to find out if those feelings still stand when and aftyer we meet in person and date for a time.

If so, Great! On to the next level.

If not, at least we permitted ourselve the oportunity to take a chance the same as in person buildinig from friendship up to relationship. And we will have been Blessed for having tried.


G-d forbid that we would be so far off we ask our selves "What DID I see in this?1?!?!?!?!!!????hug
