How does the weather effect you, your mood or life?

Now that winter is on it's way, the days are getting shorter and dipping below freezing at night here in Alberta. I really hate the whole idea of it, and can't wait to get out of here. I'm moving as soon as I get this house done and sold to southern British Columbia where the temps are much more moderate and winter is a lot shorter.
The last two weeks have been nothing but high winds, cool weather with a bit of rain mixed in just to add to the misery. Today the wind is gusting to over 60 mph again and makes it difficult to do anything outdoors, and not enjoyable in the slightest, and it's only going to get worse!

I find myself getting a bit depressed and slightly miserable at this time of year and it only gets worse as it gets colder, snows and stays for up to 8 months of the year. WTF ever possessed anyone to actually live in such climes and make it their home?

Might have to take a trip somewhere warm and sunny this winter, like Ireland.laugh

I agree!
Have you found more women looking in your direction lately? Cause I've been looking more -- to find someone to hibernate with.....just wondering if it happens out there too..
I hate winter too, but it's good..makes us appreciate every nice day we get!

A trip would definitely help..sun sun sun = fun, smiles & good times

with all of today's technology, why haven't we been able to control snow on roads? that would make Canadian winters easier! and still have snow for those that enjoy snowmobiling, skiing and such....but safer for drivers, walkers, and emergencies....

Because it costs money, and people are a renewable resource. laugh

It would seem that the goverments here in Alberta from the muncipal and provincial level don't really care about the citizens.
If they did, roads and safety would be a higher priority than they are. How many are killed on the highway to Ft.MacMurray or Grande Prarie each year. It's insanity and you really are taking your lufe into your own hands when you travel either of those highways, let alone any other roads or highways here.

they obviously haven't lost a friend or family member yet..any way to get them on those roads during a storm?
they've used brine on the roads here if they know they're ice coming..seems to help, but if it's snow it just gets slushy and pulls you..
I get depressed when the sun disappears too..i do alot of walking (if the wind isn't too icy) or just browse the malls...seems if i'm around people i can always put a smile on..and sometimes it stays after i get home....bonus

hang in there kid!!

I was born and raised in Toronto and have been back to visit in the winter, so I am familiar with what it's like. It's completely different out west on the praries.

Thanks, I'll survive, but just complain a little. laugh

I suffer from the winter blahs. What is hardest for me is we are huge outdoors people and with winter and young children you have limits on what you can do outdoors and what you can't do. Especialy when its like -20 outside which does not help.

I also find I get really unmotivated and sleepy and lazier when the days are shortened!

Ha Ha.... get the lamp an artist uses.... it is used to help with the winter blues. :-)

Ireland..... land of lots of sun???? Depends on which young ladies eyes you are looking into Kid. laugh

With luck, eyes that know and I will hook up for a quick cuppa in Whitehorse. She is there at the moment, and I'm on my way there now. Leaving the my boyfriend in his 18 wheeler on a road trip. Even the pooch is coming along for the trip.

As for lots of sun, there is already snow up North and have a feeling some snow might be on the ground when I get back home.

wave Hi Kid! Kim is right, those UV lamps really do help alot of people get through the winters and avoid seasonal affective disorder. Weather is diffferent here in Whitehorse, they have snow, alot, since I landed, but the locals are all shivering and cold where as I am not finding it so cold - because it is so much dryer here than Sask. The lack of humidity makes a huge difference. They are saying that is is wetter than usual and far icier - so am hoping for a safe trip for Kim and her man - sure he knows what he is doing though.
My kids are in Calgary this wknd and I hear that it is quite cold there right now, so you stay warm Kid ; take care and smile! angel cool

We got 8 inchs of snow this past week and the temp is staying below zero. Winter has arrived. The full moon will soon be here again. With the bright white snow, you can drive the country roads at night with out the headlights turns on. (beautifull) Winter activities here I come.dancing

Hi:
I live in Canada.
At this point in time, our change of seasons is unbelievable.
We should have tons of snow.
What should be our winter looks like what the souther states would have.
I’m not complaining. LOL.

I was chatting with a friend that lives on the Northern tip of Canada, and from what she has described …It is freezing up there. I had thought I had it tough…. My hat goes off to my Northern friends in Canada and beyond the Canadian frontier.
Please keep yourselves warm and safe?

If you live in CND you have only two choices. Except the weather it offers and all its beauty or leave. Besides without weather we wouldn't have any thing to complain about, which canadians seem to do excetionaly well. I think it is inborn.

I think no matter where we live on this planet, you will find people whose moods change with the weather.

I'm one who needs sunshine to feed my soul. Too many dark clouds and rain and my mood gets blues

Hang in there! snowed in cold daisy
