Every time I go to Winners a force pulls me to the purse display - so I go and I browse and... I want a new purse; I don't need a new purse I just really would like a nice purse - not shoes; I would in fact go barefoot if I could have a really nice purse....Anyways, I was having a talk with myself and said "what the hell do you need another purse for." To which a reply came from the other side of the display rack "What the hell do they need another tool for?" We giggled, a sisterhood bond formed...and I said, I would never know if he bought new tools - he will know I have a new purse, he notices these things

Hmmm...got me to thinking and was a topic of conversation tonight. He says, each tool has a specific purpose...but each purse does the same thing....I say, my winter coats are black and my purse is brown...I think I need a black purse....He laughs and says, oh yeah, I need a new set of screwdrivers cuz the handle don't match my tool box...and on we went, in a good natured banter. Yes, I will probably get a new purse and that is okay....but this really got me to thinking about how we, as opposite genders, look at things, just general things in different ways.

to my significant future other >>>>>> if you think you want a new purse you just hustle yer bunns down to the purse storean get what you like as long as it aint bustin the budget ,,,get one that is big enough to carry a cresen t wrench in case the pickup breaks down ,,,,my aunt was a skinny little girl back in about 56 her purse would hold <<by actual measure>>>26 long neck beers ,she was kind of skrauny and she drove a gravel truck no power steer back then ,,thats probably why she could pack a load like that yeeeeaaaaaayyyy aunt ruth

You have made a good point and I do not dispute. However, let me tell you that a purse may hold in it stuff that helps a girl feel good and therefore, when she is happy - you are happy

Furthermore, what I can put in my purse could sustain 2 grown adults in the wilderness for about 3 to 5 days and ward off bears! I am not sh*tting you!

I like tools - I am very adept and using most of them and I appreciate a well made hand or power tool (DON'T GO THERE!) In face, as a keepsake, I have my grandpa's large hand drill that he used to build their first home in 1944! The deal with men and tools is like this: remember Freddy Flintstone when he is under that "spell" and his eyes glaze over and pupils pulsate? And like a Zombie he is drawn to whatever...that is men being sucked into the tool or/and automotive section of the store....I know that you only need so many socket sets, so many screwdrivers, hammers, drills etc. etc...you don't need every new model that comes out! Us girls know this...

Now, the kitchen ware section and the kitchen appliances!!!

Yes, I am an appliance whore...

I just recently bought myself a food processor, as well as a few other "kitchen goodies". I guess I'm a whore too.

I am so grateful Eyes said that.... I avoid the bag/purse section ... it's too tempting and I might want to try another bag to see if it will be better than the one I'm using.

So far there are only 2 of us bag ladies eyes.... will any others step forward

The only difference between a woman's purse and men's pockets are...we can't leave our pockets behind....as far as tools go..how many borrowed tools do you have?

For sure - I understand the tool thing - but lets be honest - perhaps you purchase that which you all ready have but "must" improve upon for various reasons?

I really want (almost neeeeed) the Cuisinart mixer/blender/food processor everything!!! I have all three separate - think of the space I would save and the creations!! I found this store here, Nutters, that has the most incredible doodads - mortar and pestle, rasp, hand juicer...fabulous stuff. And a good knife...no words!!!

The bag...hmmm, I compromised and bought a new wallet - better than my other one - matches my purse....

Maybe I can find a scarf with the right colours, that can "tie" it all together?

I am still looking for a coffee pot that can stand the test of time - seriously thinking of bringing out the aluminum perk from the camping dishes...

Not getting a new purse, will use the nice black one I bought in the summer - decided to spend the money on getting my nails done

A perculator still makes the best coffee. My dad still uses his old stainless steel one every day and has never had a coffee maker. He takes his coffee pretty seriously and takes a thermos full wherever he goes.

I bought an Oster coffee maker 3 years ago and it still works great, although it wasn't cheap. I don't see any point in buying junk though, same goes for tools.

My parents received a toaster as a wedding gift, and it lasted for 30 years before the Bakelite (plastic) finally got so brittle that it fell apart. Why can't I find one of those old chrome dinosaurs somewhere?
The one I have now either barely warms the bread, or turns it into charcoal. What's the point in having any adjustments if they don't work? It does have some nice LED's on it though, looks cool.

Sears Catalog Kid, awesome selection of Retro chrome toasters - can hardly go wrong with the Cuisinart line - love my Griddler! But beware...the force may suck you it.
Talking about your mom and dad's toaster reminds me of the one my grandparents were using not so long ago - one of those chrome flip ones - slice on each side...with a cloth cord no less

Did a fabulous job though.
Confession: My waffle Iron is one my Grandpa bought in the mid 40's. I still use it, although the handle is broken and it is very heavy and gets sooooo hot. It has the cloth cord as well. I just continue to use it because I can make the best waffles with it...do what ya gotta do

I have to agree with you on this one as I do my own repairs around the house. My best investments have been in tools. I guess I am a little more practical.
