the vancouver thing about djkansky in the airport ,, bulshit???
kidatheart Earth, Alberta Canada
I don't have a TV, so no I haven't seen what's going on.

I will say in general, police departments SHOULD NOT have tasers available to them for use in any circumstances, seeing as how many abuse them and the number of resulting deaths from their use.

Living in BC, yea I see it on the news ALOT, and I find it rather quite discusting. There were several reports that the cops did nothing to try and even help Robert Dziekanski, even a firefighter stated in his report that the cops just stood around doing nothing, and even prevented the firefighters from trying to save Dziekanski's life until (of course) it was too late. Now they're saying there will be no criminal charges laid against those cops..I don't give a monkeys rats ass what ANYONE says, I still firmly believe those cops should stand trial for murder. Robert Dziekanski screamed (in Polish) at the cops and threw a chair, then armed himself with (of all things) a stapler.. a STAPLER ??? wow nasty "weapon", huh ? If anyone on here had shot someone with ANYTHING, because they were frustrated for whatever reason, and that person had died, do you really think the courts would give you a "paid vacation"? not likely, yet that's what cops get when they screw up. They call it "Suspended with pay", but isn't being sent home from work and still getting paid for not being there the same thing as a paid vacation ????
Here in BC it seems to me that the R.C.M.P. and the V.C.D. make up their own rules, and they ARE above the law, the courts prove that everytime the cops screw up...and they do that ALOT

It's no different in Edmonton, or Alberta, same crap everywhere I would think.

There have been way too many incidents involving Edmonton city police tasering people for no apparent reason, and resulting in death, and think they should be held accountable for their actions.
I simply don't trust the police anywhere anymore, can't if you pay attention to what they do and get away with.doh

heres my opinion on this,, the guys from Poland,, it was his first time here, he did not speak english and he lost his mother, and could not find her for hours.
hello ,,,, that right there would be enough to put someone over the edge
its obvious that he is upset, but the police did not have the right to tazer him.
things are totally differnt over in Poland,,,,, if you or i went to another country and did not speak the language and they started talking to you, you would do the same thing he did,,,, they showed him throw up his hands,,, in my opinion it lookes more like an ,,, ok, ok,, i give up, stance,, not an , ok now i am gonna hurt someone so u better watch out stance
long story short i guess.. the cops are in the wrong on this one, in my opinion

Hello Tracey, you are very right I agree with you and every one on here the cops were definately VERY wrong in the way they mishandled the situation. I sure hope more people will speak up and just maybe something will be done shock

Sorry kid, but they're cops, and as I said before, they ARE above the law, so of course NOTHING will ever be done to change the way they act now

thats very true, but hopefully something good will come from this

Here's another one for you, you talk about Robert Dziekanski, what about this 82 year old bedridden that was tasered THREE times.. this is what I just read:

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), who have been embroiled in other sometimes lethal controversies regarding the use of tasers, subdued an 82-year-old bedridden man, Frank Lasser, by tasering him at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC. Lasser, who’s had heart bypass surgery and must use oxygen at all times, was hospitalized with pneumonia. In a CBC interview, Lasser said that he can become delusional when not breathing properly. Hospital nurses called the RCMP after a delirious Lasser displayed a knife. Lasser doesn’t know why he wouldn’t relinquish his knife, even after the RCMP arrived.
The ex-prison guard believes that the three Mounties in his room could have subdued him without using a stun gun on his torso three times. Lasser commented: “They could have gone in there and taken an old man without any trouble at all.” Recounting the stun gun use, Lasser said: “I was laying on the bed by then and the corporal came in, or the sergeant, I forget which it was, and said to the guys, ‘OK, get him because we got more important work to do on the street tonight.’ And then, bang, bang, bang, three times with the taser and, I tell you, I never want that again.”
On Thursday, after the incident was reported, Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Scott Wilson sent up a trial balloon declared that the Mounties had no choice but to taser the elderly patient. “Whether the person is 80 or 20, we are dealing with a person who had a deadly weapon in their hand,” he said. Scott added that pepper spray couldn’t be used because it would “potentially contaminate the entire hospital.” Excuse me? Mr. Lasser was in _one_ room, which we can only presume had a door which could be closed.

I defy any one of you in here to tell me that doesn't bother you...

Let's here it for our men in blue.. the R.C.M.P. frustrated frustrated frustrated

As many of you on here know, Trucker (aka Robin) and I live together,
well she works the graveyard shift, and this morning when she came in
from work, she brought me in a copy of the Tues Feb 24th edition of
the Vancouver Province Newspaper. With all of this talk about Robert
Dziekanski, and the stapler, I thought you might like to read an
article published in the Province, it reads as follows:

Stapler Squad
You want to lower the cost of security for the 2010 Olympics ?
Simple. Arm them all with staplers. Imagine how secure each
officer would feel knowing he had the sheer intimidation factor
of a Paperpro 1000 at his side ! Think of the fear it would
instill in any would-be terrorist. (Of course, stapler-proof
vests might prove to be a little expensive.)
Peter Clark, Vancouver

..and that got me to thinking, Hey this could be fun, just
think about it, you're sitting in a Tim Hortons, having a
hot coffee with a friend, and a cop is sitting right beside
you. You turn to your friend and say something along the
lines, like, "Well if my next door neibour starts his crap
tonight, I'm ready for it. I just bought myself a fully
loaded semi-automatic high tech stapler, and I'm not
afraid to use it either".
Or have t-shirts made up with a picture of Clint Eastwood
holding up a stapler with the caption," Do ya feel lucky
punk ?, well do ya ?"
I wonder what a stapler would look like if it had a new
high power Burris LaserScope attached to it ???

I feel very sorry for Robert Dziekanski's family, but
when the cops mess something up that badly, you can bet
your last coffee bean there's going to be someone (like
me) going to make fun of the foolishness of the R.C.M.P.
(or any police force)
Thanks to the sheer stupidity of someone like Const.
Gerry Rundel, it sure makes one appreciate crossing
guards a little more, doesn't it ?

I'd laugh if I thought this was a humourous matter, even though satire is one of my favorite forms of comedic expression.smoking

I agree wholeheartedly. Although there are good RCMP officers, there seems to be the few that display cowardice. An 80 year old man does not pose a serious threat, probably not even to an 80 year old woman...never mind a trained RCMP officer. I think we need something that investigates these incidents that is outside both the Police Boards and Governments and holds these officers accountable. More of a convenience for them to use them as opposed to eliminating a threat.

After reading the article about the guy at the airport getting tasered, the first thing that came to mind was that these RCMP were having lunch and I can't help but get the impression they wanted to get back to lunch or were upset because they got intterupted during lunch therefore wanted it over quickly.

I guess we will start having to have a staple registry. And licenses for them soon. I mean, after all...like Brew has pointed out, they have potential to be a dangerous weapon.

" GET OUT OF THE CAR!!! DROP THAT STAPLER ON THE GROUND NOW AND GET YOUR HANDS OF THE ROOF!!! I SAID NOW! "rolling on the floor laughing

What's next? Getting tazered for being armed with a bagel?

beats trying to walk down the street, being confronted by a cop while you're holding onto a donut
