I am middleaged, but not dowdy (I am thin) and not a frump (I am neat and tidy). See, I keep it real and know how the younger folk see me. Put a photo up once, and was hailed by a 20-something 'How are you, you old slapper?' I laughed out loud! That sort of thing does amuse me, but others were scolding the 'young whipper-snapper-ankle-biter' as being disrespectful. Yes, we all need respect. That young person was trying to 'push the parcel' and my response was the whipper-snapper title above, saying I was just fine, thanks. Who knows a person, better than themself? I find keeping it real, is the way to get messages from real people. Sometimes it works. There have been a few messages based on the 'Castaway' thread. People identify with me. That is a real buzz. Maybe instead of being disappointed if they ever meet me, I would like them to be pleasantly surprised. Even if there are less messages than if I did otherwise. Hope that explains it, and do appreciate your opinion. I just take a broad view of people's perspectives, and don't want to portray myself as younger than I am. Here is an interesting development: I have been receiving messages from 30-something men! Must be looking for the Mum they never had, or maybe a Cougar (heeheehee!)

Apparently, the reason we feel superior is based on our lack of understanding about the ways other creatures communicate, and their priorities being different from ours. But then I would not be saying anything new to anyone who has owned, researched or cared for animals: Parrots, wolves, dogs, cats etc can communicate with us, even if they can't write, or understand speech the way we do. Some may say the mess they make on occasions could be termed 'art'. Check out last Saturday's Herald, there is a piece in there on it, and the US National Geographic did a cover story a few months ago, with a border collie dog on the cover. You might get a big surprise, to learn what is being said, at the moment.
Anyway, back to 'us': ALL components of communication are important. 'Radelaide' dissented, but he seemed confused.

common interests are paramount, ya gotta have common interests to enable stimulating conversation. differing opinions on some subjects is healthy, but too many variances, and well the compatibility dissapears. then the chemistry thing is up there in the priority stakes too.

thanks kizzy, so far it's been farkin' awesome. this chick is so into the stuff i'm into, it's incredible. i bought a new quad about 8 weeks ago so now i have 4. she bought 2 junior quads for her 2 boys so now my adult kids, the new squeeze and her kids, and myself are out carving up whatever soil we can on as many weekends as possible................ closest i've been to a perfect life ever i reckon lol



oh and ps, she can cook and clean and sew and other woman stuff really well too lol
