Hello Everyone.....

Here for some feedback on my oil consumption problem with my vehicle......

I brought my car from what i thought was a reputable dealer in Feb 2008, it's year of make is 2004, it had 33,000 on the clock and since July that year they have been doing an oil consumption test on my car. The car now only has 61.000 on the clock and it"s just over a year ago I brought the car. Every two months or less it is using from 500ml to 1.5lt being the most to date. .

They now tell me it is burning oil internally and the insurance only covers a $1.000 of it and they will put in $2.000 and i have to come up with $4.000 for them to put in a reconditioned motor in the car as they would not strip it down and find the problem could be more not worth it..

I paided 23.500.00 for this well 18,500.00 plus my trade in made the 23,500.00

I feel ripped off a year and four months later i have to come up with this money, specially seeing not an old car with lots of milage. I feel like going to the current affair shows and putting to them single parents pays good money for car and has to pay this out, in this amout of time after having car.

They come back at me that i broughta used car not a new car and it only had the three months used car warranty. I know this bit is so, but where is good will............

I have had different options as to just trading it in somewhere and put more to a new car.......... But this is my car i made it the way we like, nudge bar tinted windows etc........

I also am up for four new tyres (which i was excepting) about a $1.000

i bought mine a ford courier dual cab turbo diesel 4wd from the goverment actions with just under 30km on the clock, balance of new vechical warranty etc around 2002 i think. have serviced it myself since the new vechical warranty ran out and its now got 245 000km on the clock still going strong and not using any oil.
would never buy a car from a car yard, i really dislike car salesman, think they are all crooks

ok, depends on how much u want to spend on the diagnosis really?

i would take it to another mechanic for a second or third opinion i think. pick a good one but.
some workshops have brilliant diagnostic equipment these days, they can do a compression leakdown test on it to give a good idea to the condition of the motor, and they can run it on the dyno with a sniffer up the exhaust to sus out why and under what conditions it might be using it.
these tests might cost a bit, but depending on what they find it might be relatively cheap 2 repair, or easier to trade it on something else

Has the Car Dealer been aware of the motor using oil? if so, how long ago?
For him to tell you its burning oil "internally" seems strange to me.
Was there a full comprensive insurance for the first 12months? There after you have coverage on Labour and not on parts?

...or is the insurance based on the kilometers travelled from time of purchase?

Sorry to ask so many questions, you could have a case though.

There talking a reconditioned motor? to replace a motor thats done 61,000 km's?

when holden ditched its aussie v8 and went to the 5.7 gen III moter, the holden bofins decided to use different rings in it 4 some reason, and they used oil from day one. they did do a recall but to fix there errors though

The car dealer has been aware of the problem their the ones who said start an oil consumption test. The service manger their has been trying to say it is in the spes, till i come up with the last copy of the test done.

I have an insurance that if you get the services done their you are covered for certain things and sounded good at the time. They say that only covers $1000.00 towards the motor. I will be looking into it further...thanks wgabloke
