Loads of fruit picking throughout Queensland, I think that some of the backpacker places actually organise it all. Down south, you'd find alot of flower growers would want pickers, not to mention the wineries.

Will make a few enquiries, as friends rent a wee house out to Asian students who do strawberry picking on a seasonal basis. They may know some names and numbers.

Oh yeah... Im a Bundaberg girlie, from way back... its beautiful up there, and then you have Stanthorpe too....

Literally you could pretty much travel Aus picking etc as you go grin

If you look for a publication called 'Grass Roots', they have small farmers who advertise for people to farm stay basically they will offer you room and food, and you help them with a project they have ie building a shed, they are normally alternative lifestylers, so it'd be an experience, you learn about recyling, farming, organic lifestyles, self sufficiency etc. Other times they may want a holiday so want someone to come and help look after the farm... thats an idea too.

Yes, they're huge. They are locals, from Adelaide. Old papa Raptis started something pretty grand! One of the Raptis boys is a medical specialist. Well respected family.

Yes, very good conditions as the whole industry is highly regulated. I spoke to one of the big operators on a recent flight to Ceduna. Fascinating industry.Sure be lots of work even in SA, where the fishing industry continues to thrive.

thumbs up
