Hi

Does anyone have any advise on handling ppl with depression?

I dont get it they all seem to have most things in life that i dont have like their own homes, jobs that they seem to like, some have shit ex's but others dont. My little sis once told me that she thought that i should have depression as i have been through a lot and that i have less than others that are going through similiar situation but they either having stress attacks or telling me that they have worked out how to do the deed.....

listening i have tried, suggesting relaxin time out from work holidays etc

May be my little sis is right may be i should be, they seem to have so much more than i but they are freaking out.

i don t know how to console them in any way. have advise them to get professional help but as a friend i feel that i should know how to say the right thing but i just dont know what is right.

i say them because in the last few weeks i have learnt of 4 ppl are dealing with it.

any words of wisdom would be appreciated

Can doctors help with telling me how to help a friend in need. seriously over coffee to day at maccer she tells me that she knows how she is going to end it all... i had to dust myself off, once i picked myself up off the floor. Shit what do i say to something like that.

She doesnt want to take antidepressants

I heard somewhere that the majority of people who talk about it don't end up doing it.

Its usually the ones that show now sign and 'bang' they're gone.

As a friend I would drag her to the Doctor and say you need help.

Seriously though no-one can win this battle for her she needs to want to get better herself.

Actually thats what she told me to many side effects on drugs.... i offered to baby sit her kids so she can go for regular walks because she reckons they help her settle down and relax. She made excuses not to go. How do you get someone to do what relaxs them so they dont do something seriously wrong

Hey if i was in your situation id try and encourage her to see a councillor or psychiatrist to find and rectify the problem that lies beneath, maybe she can benefit from this if shes so worried of the medication.

Frustrating as it sounds you are assisting her by being a friend just by letting her know she can confide in you..
