When I was a conscript in the West German Army I met a lovely girl called Lisse . I was smitten . I was a rough guy from the wrong side of the globe & a mean bugger to boot. She was a sweetie with a kind heart and a smile that made the bad things in life melt. We dated for a time and at the end of my service I was offered a full time position of what amounts to a sergeant on the staff of our battle group if I stayed in. But , I had a very lucretive job in the personal protection industry ready when I got out with the bonus of seeing much of the world while being paid to do it. The prospect of being an officers lacky was not that appealing but if I stayed I would still be with Lisse . In the end after much soul searching the offer of money , travel & adventure won out. She married later & has three lovely children. As the German armed forces downsized after re-unification I probably would have been out of a job but a couple of times a year my mind wanders & with a smile I think of what would have been if I made a different choice & followed my heart . No regrets just curiousity

Nah. K27 . It's not sad. Just life. No regrets on my part. Better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all. There are very few things in life I regret as every choice led me to the person I am today .
