as the OP of thsi thread I do believe it is possible because I have experienced it and a good friend of mine whom I met in CS and I were talking about this the other day and he worded it like this...

normally when we meet someone in the flesh.. we are at first attracted to them physically.. then over time we get to know them as a person (who they are, what they like/dislike, their values and personality traits etc) so in other words we get to know them from the outside in and fall in love with them that way

when we meet someone on the net and we have that connection it is because we get to know them from the inside out .. which is the important stuff when it comes to relationships and whether they work or not .. and we can fall in love with them for who they are as a person.. not for what they look like

so yes.. it is definitely possible to fall in love with someone you have yet to meet face-to-face

Yes, I also believe in falling in love over the net with the 'person' ..... has happened a few times ...

It's exciting, butterflies, etc... but then comes ... 'the meet' and the 'pit in your stomach' ... as they don't have that 'x' factor in person.

Call me shallow, but there has to be that 'something' .. chemistry/physical appeal ... there isn't much point being in love with the 'person within', when you have a hard time looking at the person 'without' (on the outside) ... they don't have to be 'handsome/beautiful', because we all see people differently, but it is important how that person looks in YOUR eyes ...

I have met some very special people, have connected deeply, and value their friendship enormously, but unfortunately, no 'bang' .... as much as I would like it to be.

"Give it time' you may say .... OK, done that ...but how much time is fair to the other person, you are screwing them around and probably hurting them by not returning their feelings... is that more acceptable than saying 'love you as a friend' .. and let them get on with finding someone worthy of their love and time?

I wouldn't appreciate being 'stringed along' until something better turned up or whatever.

After meeting a man on this site &I have to admit i was taken with him way before we met did I love him ? what I can say is I knew by our dialogue & our connection that there was a real possibility of love .
Now we have met i have to say we are both falling hard woohoo so yes I now do believe you can sense that love is possible without meeting

That's not love that's infatuation. You can't decide if you love someone until you have experienced them one on one. Found out whether the physical matches the emotional & psychological. Also whether their quirks get on your nerves or totally enthrall you. These things you never learn until you start spending time with them.
Yes you can become enthralled or bewitched by someone over the internet or phone. But if you have a brain you realise you can't fall in love. Anyone who says otherwise does not believe inthe sanctity of marriage and that it is for life. Are you (Being anyone that reads this)going to make that commitment to someone over the internet.
Love is a term too loosely used in this day and age. If I said I love you to a Female. I would be planning on making my life hers. Until then I like her. I like her heaps if I'm sleeping with her. But I don't love her until I start thinking about commiting to her.
