Lou sorry to hear you lost those pics. Modern Technology isn't always the answer hey ?

I did a similar thing a few months ago...transferred irreplacible photos to the computer.....deleted them off the camera doh ....then hit the wrong button on the computer. (thought I was just deleting a photo that I didn't want...but Nooooo)....lost them all sigh

Sorry babe

Lou29: I need help! (Obviously )

I took the best photos ever last night and they are saved on my memory card. I inserted memory card into laptop and viewed pics last night on laptop and left card in it until tonight. I took it out, back in camera, took more pics and now when I put it in the laptop it is telling me I have to reformat it. If I do this I will lose pics won't I?

Faaaaaaaaaarrrrrkkkkkkkk

Is there some way of getting pics of the damn memory stick??Please let there be a god!

I am going to have lots of upset kids tomorrow if I can't get them.

I'm losing my memory tooconfused

If i may give you a tip. After going through the same crap Lou, I now save my photos, precious ones anyway, to my hotmail account. They are stored there, they cant be deleted or lost (unless hotmail fries)and you can access them from anyones pc.frustrated

Hello,

This may not be of much help, but the data will almost certainly still be on your memory device. What will probably have happened is the track and sector information ( File Allocation Table ) will have become corrupt, or a cluster gone bad, perhaps, or something similar.

If you can see the device in Disk Manager, then it might be worth trying to run Checkdisk (chkdsk) on it.

If you're not PC savvy, then find a friendly local who is savvy and have them try it. You could always Google chkdsk for the syntax if you're game - you can hardly break it any further.

Also, if you do have to re-format the device, then I would suggest you use 'quick' format, rather than full - contrary to popular opinion, fomatting a device doesn't delete the data; it just rewrites the File Allocation Table.

Only format, though, as a last resort. When the format is complete, DO NOT WRITE OR SAVE ANYTHING TO THIS NEWLY FORMATTED DEVICE. Instead, run a recovery program on this newly formatted device and you never know, it may just recover your files - your chances are actually better than even, although the file names will likely be gobbledegook, but the files should be intact.

Hope this helps.
