I had a call this after noon from an Indian chappy using an internet phone line because he was dropping out and sounded like he was under water. Told me he was from Microsoft Sydney, and ringing to help me with a complaint I had put into Microsoft, which I had. About week ago a Microsoft logo about 2 inches square appeared on my screen flashing, saying there is a malicious program attacking my computer download this program to stop it, it had placed a program on my screen and just wanted me to click on run, I couldn't do anything with my computer except run the program. So I just pulled the plug from the wall. Anyway I sent a message to Microsoft enquiring about it. This guy had a very strong Indian accent said his name was Kevin Brown ( very Indian name) and wanted me to type into "run" prefetch. I told him I would ring back when I verified who he was. Also he had my home phone number. Has anyone ever had Microsoft ring them to help out with a problem????scold

It's a native cat Mol, looks more like a possom and has spots. Some are only tiny, but the ones that do the most damage are the size of a house cat.

Listen at night....you might here a 'coughing' sound outside....that will be it. Really weird sound.

Have not had Microsoft ring me but I tend to solve my own problems mostly.

I picked up a virus this morning (yes the post under "Cyber Sex" thread was true) this one would post a warning on your system telling you you needed to download this software to get rid of the infection that it had discovered.
I scanned my system with AVG 8 and found nothing but it kept popping up. I don't think it was actually a virus, more likely a malicious script.
The interesting thing about your email is that when I found the little blighter it was actually hiding in the c:\windows\prefetch folder.
In the end to get rid of it I had to kill the application (in windows XP ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager then select processes tab and then ended processes called a.exe and ~tmpc).
After that in explorer I deleted all the files in c:\windows\prefetch this is a hidden system folder and only viewable if you have set it so you can see them in your settings.
I also deleted every single file in any temp directory I could find including internet temp files.
Finally I got rid of it.
If you type prefetch into the run command it will list all the prefetch files so he may have been legit.
If you contacted them via email ask him to repeat word for word what you wrote assuming your email is still in the emails sent folder of your email client.
If you ever get a wierd message or warning come up, or a "warning" email that you are not sure is legit check it out at http://www.sophos.com/security/hoaxes/ .
Hope this helps a bit.

I resorted to making huts to close the chooks into of a night. Unless your pens are totally wired in you will have trouble as they are very agile.

Even if it is wired in completely you would be wise to put chicken wire around the outside base of the pen.

Good luck

Molly, keep an eye on the International Threads...I notice there are some people really privvy to what viruses are being passed around. They post warnings on the Int's quite often.
