This is a real issue for me....I guess as well as others of my age.

I like young people, I have two daughters in their 20s...and I like young people. However, I an realistic enough to realise that it is not appropriate for me to seek the friendship (or more) of young people their age.

As I am not actually looking for a partner, I am in an unusual position in this site....or so I think.

I have many friends in Indonesia, most of whom are women and the majority of them are half my age. My best friend is the same age as my eldest daughter. Many of them are amazed that I dont want to marry them.

I have never misrepresented my age and have no intention to seek a much younger partner....I cannot see how it could possibly work.

What do people think about overseas younger partners?

Age differences aren't seen as much of an issue in most asian countries.

I was referring back to the original subject....which specifically talked about men seeking younger women. Thats all...

when i was 34 my eldest daughter was 17, and i had a love interest for a brief period that was only 2 years older than my daughter. that was so odd at the time that, although miss 19 and i were getting along very well, i ended it before it got too far. i wasn't looking for a younger partner when we started seeing each other, it was one of those grew together situations. we were introduced to one another through work , and as she had to relocate to start employment where we were, she needed to set up a flat to live in. i had some furniture that was surplus to my needs so i gave her some stuff. we then went out on little mates dates like the movies and the footy etc. and then one outing to the movies (titanic i think) she started cuddling and stuff , no longer were we mates dating. anyway as i said , i got uncomfortable with it so ended it.
i bumped into her at a shopping centre about 12 months ago , we chatted for a while over a coffee. she's now 30 with a partner and 2 kids. she told me she regretted us parting ways. again i got uncomfortable, but i resisted. so when i was 34 and she was 19 that was a really big age gap. but now i think of it 45 to 30 doesnt seem as bad.
i wont be pursuing that scenario ant further as would be quite obvious, but things like that make you wonder "what if?"

I guess it depends what you'e looking for - I DO think some of the guys are kidding themselves, living in fantasy land. Let's face it, how can you have a real relationship with someone so much younger - you would not have many things in common, so what would you talk about?

But if you're just after a bit of fun, what's the harm? As far as "fun" goes I wouldn't bother with most men my own age - too old & worn-outlaugh If I was looking for a relationship (which I'm not) I would be looking for a mature, intelligent man my own age but since I'm only looking for fun, the younger the better (but I would draw the line at 16!!!)

MellieMels: Hi All ,

I've noticed recently that most women in their profile put the preferred age group of their partner down as being up to 10 years older or a few years younger (depending upon their age) whereas most men put it only a few years older and down to wanting an 18yo/19yo even though a lot of these men are 30+ and close to 40 and older - not all of them do it but a lot do.. My question is why?? If I were a 40yo male I don't think I could stand being in a relationship with someone with such minimal life experience.. And the other question is do these guys seriously think that an 18yo would be interested in someone old enough to be their father or even grandfather? JMO.. What are your thoughts?? Does it turn you off (probably not the right words here) that they think they could get an 18yo or are wanting an 18yo? I've got the fire extinguisher at hand as I'm ready for a flaming..

How about seeing a 25 year old woman with a husband over 80, with a couple children under 4, was very common here, a guy here was a (broker got $8000 commission each match and I don't think its legal but he got away with it) buying wives from over seas and it became an epidemic buying spree. Some of these guys were walking around on walking frames. God knows how they managed to impregnate the wife, makes the imagination run wild.
