Ralf74: i used to paint, i was a very good artist. I excelled at school in art and was even asked personally to paint the School Principal a picture to hang on his office wall that i was paid for (a whole $10, lol). I stopped because my stupid bitch teacher in gr 11 & 12 hated absolutely everything i did and I ended up giving up trying to please her. Haven't drawn or painted a picture since.

I had the same experience in 11 and 12, did good landscapes, water colours, pencil drawings. I had the principle and other teachers comment on my works at the end of year display in the Library.

But the art teacher was in to very expressive and modern styles, so I got a lower grade.

Slowly taking it up again

I like painting rooms. I have painted the inside of the house I rent. I'm in the middle of building on a small room and will paint that when it's finished. I have asked my boss if I can paint the childcare I work at. It needs an upgrade (Ithink). I would like to be adventureous with what colours and pictures I paint but as none of these are my places, I'm lucky to be allowed to paint at all. laugh

Ralf74: I know, it is stupid but I was young and impressionable and after 2 yrs of her insulting critique, it sucked the sheer joy out of it for me. I could have even understood if she gave constructive critisism but it was like she hated me, all she did was attack anything i did. I never had such a poor rapore with a teacher.

Hey Ralfie; I agree with the others..... don't let that bitch win by holding back your talent. As far as creativity is concerned, it will come to you with practice, experience and time. If it's something you like doin, then..... do it gurl!

I had a passion for sculpture and it started when I was about 13 years of age. I started to do portrait drawings at the age of 17, but due to life's commitments, I didn't do anything else until, at the age of 47, I decided to do my Fine Arts Diploma, which I completed last year. That included: Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmmaking, Digital Imaging, Art History, Sculpture, Ceramics, etc. and I majored in Sculpture and Ceramics, and currently I am doing my Advanced Ceramics Diploma. I had so much talent hidden in me all this time, and when it all surfaced, I even surprised myself.

I just wished I had done all this much earlier in life, so don't leave it as late as I did Ralfie. Don't allow a stupid idiot of a teacher hold you back.

DO IT FOR YOUR SELF, and you'll never look back...... thumbs up
