NEWS CAST: Smoky has given up Smoking.

At least I believe she has, but she is suffering!

On Monday I awoke to an horendous bout of `flu and could NOT smoke - just slept all day.

On Tuesday - I`d forgotten to reset the time on my mobile/alarm, woke up late, had to run for the train to german language school, had no time to smoke ... and by the time I got home decided to give it a bash as I`d slowly been building up to deciding whether I`d actually survive it!

Today, Wednesday, I have an awful taste in my mouth, a gut-wrenching pain in my abdomen, and I had to break down and have just one cigarette! Drinking gallons of water, and hoping this helps.

I dont know if I will actually live thru this, so if I vanish off CS its only cause I died from nicotine withdrawal!sad flower

I believe the physical effects actually only last 3 days. The nicotine addiction is out of your system in 3 days and after that it is the emotional addiction that is the problem. I've quit 3 times...once for 15 years. The last time, and final time, was 4 years ago. If I can do it, anybody can. I know it is a cliche, but it truly is ONE DAY AT A TIME. After each day, I told myself if I could do it for 1 day, I could do it for another, and then if I could do it for 2, I could do it for 3, etc. And I stayed away from people who smoked and the places where people smoke. Good luck.

Imman, Imman, Immanuelle!!!! I got a beer glass of water next to me,, and its empty again!

I dont know if this is such a good idea ..... According to Woofy I`m WAAAAYYYY past any recovery!!!

But at least I`ll give it a serious try first, or die first, or starve to death......

Thanks AMELIA. But, I been smoking since I was 15 ... and I`m now 61 and eleven twelths ...... And the last time I tried to give up - okay, I was not convinced myself, I was doing it from outside pressure - I only lasted about 8 hours! Now I got to day 3 (with one illegal) .... and will see if I survive tonight, before thinking about tomorrow.teddybear

Smokey's not smokey anymore!!!

Jeepers creepers!!!...I'd never thought I'd live to see the day!!...this is really big!...

...I'm fascinated..I am fascinated by the whole physiological thing...can you imagine what Smoky's body will go thru??..The withdrawal process?!!...it'll be awesome..She has smoked all her life, and now suddenly, no more nicotine!!..the symtoms will be unbelievable!!...I should have been a doctor...it fascinates me. Smoky, please document your progress and your symptoms here..I want to know what you are going thru....every little thing. I wonder if you should go on some sort of high-octane liquid diet or something to help you through the process. Yikes!!..

Like Amelia says, just think about the 'now', the 'hour', perhaps the 'day'...and tomorrow the same. If you do it...YES!!, if not, then at least it was one 'now' or one 'hour' or one 'day' without a smoke.

Sorry you are feeling unwell. Lots of fluids and a big duvet...

Even so, the nicotine addition washes out of your body in 72 hours. You are almost there. Now it's emotional addiction. The main thing is that you want to do it and you are not doing it for any other reason that that you want it. There are so many reasons why to want to, feeling so much better, not being a slave to those stupid sticks, being able to breath and smell good, etc.
hug comfort You can do it, and you will be SO HAPPY when you have.

Ja, its a *ucking miracle! Maybe I take up drinking jet-fuel or something?

Now, I`m gonna make a cup-o-disgusting-artificial-soup-stuff-from-a-packet... cause that is what I feel like .... my guts are empty except for about 10 gallons of water!

You are the only guys I`m telling about this experiment cause I dont want a lot of ribald comments from my family..... about Marlboro Mama type jokes! Anyway, if I fail, I`d rather fail with my dignity intact.

Oh, yeah...and here's the biggest and most important one, Smoky: smoking damages and ages the skin. This may have been the biggest motivation for me to quit, lol. cool

In response to: Since i could not reply to Lagoona's former thread as it's been locked, i did a follow-up..

Smoky,

Another motivation.....Smokers smell bad.

After I stopped, I was ashamed that I had ever been an affront to people's sense of smell. Smokers stink!

I was going through some old clothes that hadn't been touched for a while. They smelled like an old stinky man (remember the ones you were kind of freaked out about when you were a kid)...That's what smokers smell like.
