I would hope so too .. if there's no friendship, there can be nothing I think .. but do you think in general that it's best to meet people from CS as friends or as potential partners?

well everyone is diffrent and looking for diffrent things,....... but if the case is ur looking for a relationship and the other person as come to kno you for that reason of couse you should meet as potential partners.

that's what I think too ... and if for whatever reason it doesn't work out, that's part of life. Adults is adults.

You move on but hopefuly a gr8 frienship can still go on... if it was that way b4 the meeting.

Another thought is if they pursue a person and they say its only for friendship and not get to no each other intermatly when they really are looking for a partner,... they wouldnt of worked on that conection b4hand so its more likly there will not be sparks when meeting.

What a beautiful, sunny day today in Belgium! Is it a holiday in Aussieland, too?

Well, I thought that would be the case, too, but I think it's easier said than done, based on my experience, and that already happened with a number of guys..

Don't get me wrong -- they are nice, respectable, decent men like I envisioned them to be who are really seriously looking for someone to share their lives with. And I have selected them from a large number of interested men from another dating site and here for a couple of them. I have been very honest with them that I won't be able to tell if there's a real connection or not until I meet them. So I thought I made it pretty clear.

Still it was not possible to become friends after I let them know the sparks were not there for me. After telling some friends, they told me I have to give it a chance. And I did try once, but the guy still wanted it to be more. So I had to cut it off.

Those were my experience. Obviously, yours was different. I wish it was for me. And for all others who are intending to meet someone they like in real life.

Its a shame the guys couldnt just except that you didnt feel sparks but i guess it is hard.. but they still should be mature enough to except it,.....and move on and still be mature enough to be friends after.

Oh, they accepted it alright .. grudgingly. But no friends ..

you know, from the words 'I just gonna start with friends' I don't see a whole lot changed from before, just maybe a little less honest about your ultimate intentions ..

why don't you tell them you are kissing a pond full of frogs to see if one is really a prince? Just seems a bit more honest than this friendship thing in my opinion ..
