I think it is impossible, for me anyways, to match faces to personalities. If you mean the names on FB then I wasn't too surprised by most of them.

I never use my real name anywhere on the net, so people might have a hard time trying to figure me out matching the name I use with who I really am.

Sorry for driving you mad,but you see despite my postings I am incredibly shy and when I did put a piccy up everyone took the piss. Far better to let you imagine I am handsome than to let you see for sure that I,m not.

I’ve found it difficult for me to communicate with “faceless” people. I don’t try to imagine their features, there’s no point to do that as you will never guess right, but I try to avoid them on forums, and, as rule, don’t keep a private correspondence with an empty square.

As to their real names… that has never bothered me. In the real life I have to make some effort to remember people’s names, so it’s seldom matters for me. But I remember faces.

Maybe consider leaving the photo up here for longer than 10 seconds.

That will allow those of us who never take the piss out of others' photos, to view you.

Hi Ginger. Funnily enough I just found out a few days ago that people also use pseudonyms on Facebook. I naively assumed that people used their real names there (Not quite sure why I thought that). I don't have a facebook account.

I think I have actually begun to identify with my 'name'. I would probably stop and turn if someone called out 'Immanuelle' on the street. That is really weird!

I am with you on that. I forget names as quickly as I learn them. I call most of the parents of the kids I teach 'mom' or 'dad' as I can never remember their names.

It is difficult to communicate with 'faceless' people at times but I feel you get to 'know' them a bit here on CS despite the empty box on the forums and that is what drives me mad.!!!! I need a face to go with the words!!!

Why is it so important for some people to see a foto? A foto doesn't show neither anything about the character of somebody nor about his charm and his heart. Its not a problem for me if somebody doesn't have a foto, maybe I would even prefer it if I was looking foe a partner, because it might influence me and I might be preoccupied before I meet the person.

I don't particularly care when I'm just having a banter on the forums. It's my down time.

What I don't like much, is when local men appear in my WNM list. I think they have a nerve to view someone who has bothered to put up a photo, and they are sitting behind anonymity. I am left wondering what their agenda is?

In this case I don’t wonder about anything – I just delete the faceless from ”Who’s viewed you” list. It would remind me a portrait gallery of empty squares… “beyond-expressionism” or some such, and of all -isms I, as a simple soul, prefer realism.

How do any of us know its a real pic of that person anyway ? Maybe in this respect an empty square is more honest.

One gets very good at picking up scammers' photos.

But very rarely do scammers spend time conversing on the forums.
