I can be shy, but I don't think anyone would ever notice.

It is a case of putting on a smile head up and make the most of any situation.

As a child I was chronically shy and at times I still am, not to such an extent, but I've learnt to overcome it. It's really about confidence therefore if you have confidence in yourself then shyness dissipates. It's actually quite an endearing characteristic in my opinion.

I found great ways to overcome shyness...

1) Write down three times when you felt really relaxed. Really think back to these times and exactly how that felt. Where in your body did you feel it? How was your body language? Act this way. You will realize that you start to feel relaxed in doing this. Do the same for confident, excited, etc.

2) Memorize jokes or conversational pieces to initiate stimulating conversation. Check out howstuffworks.com for interesting topics. View social interaction as a game where the goal is to make someone smile or a social experiment where these people are your guinea pigs and you learn from experimenting on them. This is fun, and takes away the burden of trying to impress or be accepted.

3) Visualise the person you want to be. How does she stand/talk/walk/look? Take aggressive steps towards being that person and do it for yourself and nobody else!
