WW its not a matter of success (its not a contest), its a matter of getting to meet people and seeing where it goes. I have met 3 wonderful ladies from different parts of Spain (actually physically met), and had some wonderful times. But as is the way of the world although we are good friends and still meet occasionally there is no future long term relationships. Finding the "right" (whatever that means) person, where everything between 2 people is what they want, will take time.
But in the meantime I believe in having a good time and making new friends along the way.

But in answer to your question, and for Wedy too, Spain is Paradise for me. I work hard so I'm not your typical retired ex-pat relaxing and drinking too much in the sun, though I do love my wine and try to socialise as much as possible!

Ultimately, for me, it's a way of life that I feel more comfortable with for many reasons. The healthy food, the fact that I can be sitting on a terrace enjoying tapas and a drink at midnight in the winter because here in Murcia the winters are very mild. The people who, because I'm not in a typically ex-pat area, are very friendly and eager to befriend me and practice their English, or correct my Spanish!

I do go back to the UK regularly to visit my family, and I am proud to be English, but I am always very happy to return here to my little flat, and the sunshine.

Despite the fact that financially I am much worse off and I've had to downscale my life in a lot of ways, I could never return permanently to the UK, I know that now, I have found my little piece of heaven where I intend to stay.

YES JAN I DID, I WAS ENGAGED FOR 6 YEARS WITH MY FIRST BF. I BROKE UP CAUSE HE CHEATED ON ME, THAT'S HOW I START TO WORK ON SHIPS.
