I read some time ago that they were going to call themselves "The beetles" but thought it to similar to "The Crickets" and decided to go with "Beatles" as in the "Beat" movement that emerged from the US after the second Worlds War.

Don't forget Judge Dread...had the most banned records at one time...Big One, Big Six ect....as a 50's child, it's got to be the 70's for me, Ska, Motown, Reggae, Soul........the list goes on......dancing
