arrrrggggghhhhhh

I get angry when I see someone being abused either verbally of physically, I hate it when people use other people, i hate it when people are left defencelss, Idon't know whether that's anger or frustration.

how do I cope? Idon't know. Help if I can, when not... then I get angrier.

can it be useful?

yes... in my case, it is... I think I'm lazy so if something sets the sparks, then I get going.

About the only thing that makes me truly angry is if I witness animal abuse.... then I lose any inhibitions I may have.

Once in SA during the Sardine Run when people could just uplift the little fish from the waters edge, a mother and her kids sitting near me took her childrens fish they brought and stuck them head first into the sand, making a sort of living fence around herself - this made me so angry to see such blatant cruelty being taught to innocent kids - eventually I could not stand to see these wriggling suffocating fish so I pulled them out and threw them back into the sea. She got almighty angry, but shut-up pretty quickly when my anger outstripped hers, and a crowd had gathered to support me. A fisherman demonstrated to her how to stun a fish and kill it quickly..... I think a lot of people learned something that day, I hope so.

Anger can be useful in motivating one to do something about a situation, I think, works for me anyway.

I once had a neighbor who was taking pot-shots with a pellet gun at monkeys trying to get to some fruit he had that was going over-ripe anyway, when I verbally chastised him he replied that the pellets dont harm the monkeys, only frighten them. So I went and got my own pellet gun, aimed it at him, and said "Okay, I would like to see exactly how little harm it does" ..... he chickened out.

So, anger, to me, gets me off my lazy butt and makes me interfere.......

Upsetting other people makes me angry with myself - then I get depressed and feel totally miserable.

How do I cope with my anger - not very well, but I cope enough not to be suicidal.

Anger a useful emotion? Very rarely......... I guess the only time I can think it is useful is in a life or death situation when adrenalin helps you do more than you thought physically possible to either save your own life or the lives of others.

Otherwise anger is negative.

What makes you angry?? And why??
people who don't consider other people's feelings, mainly. i was raised in a large family and was taught it was wrong to be selfish. for example, people who push in in a queue really annoy me. they are putting themselves first and saying nobody else is important. unf, pushing happens more and more now though.

Where do your deepest feelings of anger come from???
i'm not sure i understand the question. do you mean like from what part of my body? sometimes the feeling just comes from my head and other times from the pit of my stomach, depending on the amount of anger and my hopelessness at 'correcting' the issue making me angry.

How do you cope with your anger??
ideally, i try to laugh and help the person see that although i'm laughing it isn't really funny and the situation / behaviour needs addressing. if that doesn't work, i'll confront calmly or not so calmly, again depending.

Do you think anger can be a useful emotion, sometimes??
as an earlier poster has said, anger is often a prerequisite to getting off my butt and doing something about an incorrect situation. this is true throughout history too. for example, william wilberforce's anger at the slave traders is famous. conversing

Anger is a Luxury FEW can afford.

Anger:"A dubious Luxury"

If something hurts us,and we are Sore,we are in the Wrong also.

Doesn't mean I never get angry, but when I do something happens within my Spirit as well and I don't necessarily like it.
That's why I say that Anger is A Luxury few can afford, because part of it is always directed against oneself.
If I point at someone ,some Fingers point back at me.smile tip hat

Assertive is a wonderful place to be!

Being assertive means recognising the other perosn's point of view PROVIDED they accept your right to a view..............

The extremes to being assertive are being 'apologetic' and being 'aggressive'

Apologetic means you are putting the other person's needs above you own (bad idea as it ultimately causes resentment)

Being aggressive only pisses the other person off......if you wish to accomplish you goal without the use of brute force:

get that person on your side as fast as possible!

grin
