Lagoona - you should meet dragonfly when she comes back again to Malta on holiday........she is a very special person and she brought this sad old 'rusty' thingy back to life - a wonderful person with a HUGE smile and verve for life who really goes out 100% for what she wants - and gets it! (and she is just so bloody talented I'm very very jealous!)

No need to be nasty!

I know I also have talent, but somebody like dragonfly has BOTH talent and the energy to convert it into success by her dynamism (that I might lack) - you yourself have worked very hard to make a living out of your talent - even if it is somewhat mediocre by comparison!

grin

I find it hard to differentiate between the two words 'envy' and 'jealousy' - I am NOT jealous in a nasty way, and feel good when friends do well...............

it's just sometimes I wish I had the same grim determination to succeed in a field in which I lack recognition compared to more mundane things I'm good at (such as financial investment which is more 'black and white' and less subjective)

Ok? I hope that you are not going to start a series of nasty posts again - especially when we've been able to get on ok without resorting to acting like little kids!

I've appreciated your witty comments as much as the ladies, but maybe without such a warm feeling between my thighs! sticking out tongue

I'm not number one or two in 'comic book' illustrations, but I can make more money in ten minutes than you can make in a week just by using my financial acumen!

Meeeeeoooowwwwww..... SPIT - scratch...!!!!!

Dear Rusty, Please take a look at how you reply to things .... Lagooona made a comment on your own statement. And then you got all nasty?.. for why? And then you got even more nasty and catty....!

You act like a spoilt little brat! "I got more money than you got ngha ngha ngha ngha....." "My dads bigger than your dad ngha ngha ngha ngha...."

No wonder some people just vanish from here - when you start your silly tantrums! You were usually always so entertaining and interesting, you still can be - sometimes - but lately you seem to have this big hat-pin and go round trying to prick other peoples baloons all the time, or whenever you get a chance. Why dont you just relax ... and go with the flow? cheers

Rubbish!

I made a nice compliment about dragonfly's talents and got told I was jealous of anybody with talent - jumped up little man!

There is no need whatsoever to turn a compliment into a put-down!

I have talent! We all have talent..... I just happen to have wasted 99% of my God-given talents - and it dies NOT make me happy!

Ok?

I said it in a nice complimentary way - and I am not jealous of anybody with talent as the man said....he was just putting me down. He now claims to be the top or second top man in his profession in the whole of Europe when he's told me himself he has little talent but works hard with the talent he has and is scared shitless that if he turns work down he'll never get asked to do work for 'x' or 'y' again!

Well, if I was the top or second best in my field I'm sure I could pick and choose who to work for - you can't have it both ways now, can you?

Something doesn't quite add up in what the man says about himself, yet he feels happy to put other people down in his delightfully smarmy way.............. he turned a compliment I made of another CS member into something unpleasant - and that is not 'nice'!

Ah now, you are misunderstanding things. Lagoona IS the Top Man of his Profession. He has no need to rate himself as the 2nd top, that is just being humble.... which is what all realy Top people do. I myself have done that, as an artist ..... One does not go around bragging about being too successful. You do that you end up with mailboxes of begging letters!

Here in Zurich, at the moment, seriously, his name is very very popular. Even in our local newspapeer, the Zurich Unterlander I see his name regularly mentioned ..... Of course the man is going to be sounding humble ... he can afford to!

There has only ever been one artist who never was humble - and that was Tretchikoff, who openly used to state that his work was a load of c--p but he laughed all the way to the bank.

Its the creeps down at the bottom of the ladder who are pumping themselves up you got to be wary of!

Anyway, a good attitude to adopt in life is to be always polite to those you believe to be at the bottom, cause one day you may meet them when they at the top.......cheers

I am 5" 4. The shortest man i have ever dated with was 5"8, the tallest was 6' 5", the rest were in that range. smitten

Looking back i do see that most of the men i have dated were taller than me, and, that is more to do with big men liking petite girlfriends. comfort

As for profiles, well, if you find someone interesting, articulate and witty, does it really matter if they need a box to stand on to kiss you? hug

wave Welcome, lincoln lass!

I think all these "requirements" about what people should look like we see in the profiles are usually the things we are initially attracted to - some people prefer tall men, some prefer shorter, some prefer slender women, some prefer taller women. But in the end it usually doesn't really matter if the other person has brown or blue eyes, dark or light hair, etc - because we have got to know them as a real person, and grown to love them for who they are. We eventually see more of the inside than the outside of people.

The closest relationships in my life have been with people who did actually not match the "physical profile" I would initially look for (well, maybe with one or two attributes at the most).

Height can be important. I once went out with a guy, in flat shoes he was a bit shorter than me, but he was Italian and liked high heels, so I wore high heels. The problem was that he like to hold hands - and this gave me back-ache .... mooching along with one shoulder dropped down. Then, because he loved shopping but got tired quicker than me - I found he was sort of using me for a crutch/walking stick! And then I began to feel like I was his Mommy - and then I just got sick and tired of this short guy - and suggested he go find someone else to hang onto.

OH!!

dont tell me .............the essence is in the small bottles....... I KNOW THAT........
I know it is completely unfair, unreasonable, etc. I am only about 5'2" but am only attracted to men 5' 10-11" , 5' 9" is probably the shortest man I've ever been with.....just what is attractive to me....no rhyme or reason and can't justifiy it....

So in theory, if I wore a three inch heel instead of you, and you wore flat shoes, that would make me your ideal match with one inch to spare.
What a nice thought actually!!
