For further info google, ¨the myth of love¨. there is an Ezine article that I found interesting. On par with
the Road less travelled.

I ask the question, because, I find that my feelings change with whatever seems to be happening with my body, or chemical changes in my brain,, or whatever. Hence, If love were merely a feeling, it couldn´t possibly exist for a lifetime. It has to be ones dedication to commitment, right?

i think it's both without feeling there's no action and no action there's no feeling you had to have the feeling to make a decision and you have to decided if you like it or not......professor

fair enough. but feelings change day to day. You may be in love- or feeling in love one day- the next day feel a bit different. So if our actions constantly relied on our feelings....thats a difficult one.

check out that ezine article I mentioned. I tend to agree. If you view love as a ¨feeling¨ then its bound to wane. thats my idea. Love has to be more than a feeling.

Is that the only possibility then? That love is either a feeling or an action? Can't there be other possiblities? How about love being an aspiration? We meet someone and hope that that certain someone will light our candle in whatever way we want it lit. They either don't meet our expectations or we get bored sooner or later with their candle lighting technique and move on. And so the circle turns...

Feelings change. So if "love" is based on feelings, then its not going to last very long, as you say.

That reminds me of those "Halleluja Happy Clappy" type churches where everyone gets revved up and seem to go on insane highs - depending on how charismatic the leader is? .... And when they come down from their high they hit rock bottom.......and need another adrenalin rush to get the "feeling" again!

So, initially, there is attraction ... based on the age old method of "mate seeking". Then I should think that is where Commitment comes into the picture? And depending on ones character, should ones mate meet with mis-fortune (as in some disease, disfiguring accident, loss of fortune, etc) ones commitment "keeps the home-fires burning"?

Unfortunately, we now not only are consumers of goods, we are also consumers of other peoples emotions, and are inclined to discard them as readily as an old pair of shoes......
