my parents live in malta.some friends have just been for two week holiday and say the island is full of cannabis.i wouldnt know as my downfall is wine.i said to my friends i dont think thats true.your thoughts please

Listen, I don't have any cannabis, but I have a friend who swears that the local seaweed, when it's cured and dried, will knock your socks off....if ya wanna come down and smoke some weed, this may be it....only problem is, you smell a bit fishy after a couple of joints....

maybe Malta should be renamed Paradise by the sounds of things - full of wine, weed and song and the home of half the women on this forum.

Yars Darls .... I always suspected there was more behind all this cigarette smoke banning indoors! ... Its so that others dont get high on your cannabis smoke should they not be requiring to share others highs.

But seriously ...... I would suspect, very strongly, that should one roam them interior sections of Malta there is sure to be weed growing ... its a nice hot climate. And with all them birds flying over in their migrations they sure to poop out some seeds?

Like I saw once, photos of a whole bunch of helium baloons being released in the UK, filled with dagga seeds, and stamped on the baloons was "Sowing the Seeds of Dope".......

Is that lawful for them Birds to do that???????

In Europe where wine drinking is 'culture', weed smoking is disdained. Naturally - there are industrial interests in clash. When weed becomes legalised, tobacco companies will be right out there with nicely packaged weed cigarettes. Of that you can be sure.

Of Malta itself I frankly dont know much. I haven't the least idea of its regulations and enforcements. Weed has its very special mildly sweet and acrid smell. If you have smoked it sometime you will never forget its aroma. Those that have smoked weed always retain a weakness, a sheer sentimentality, for marijuana, for it brings back nostalgic feelings and a kind of psycho-physical uptiftment. People remember the good times of the past.

But you have implied another question here - why is wine your downfall? Alcohol, of course, is very debilitating, especially for women because of their physiology. Smoke weed instead. It is not good for your lung tissue but it is nowhere as destructive as alcohol on tissue damage - once again, for women.

There is someting about beautiful places (like Malta) where one feels impelled to fulfill oneself to the most. Thus the natural beauty, enhanced by alcohol or weed, maybe even romance, however transient, that makes one go perhaps too far.

Guard against this as much as you can and I am sure you will be very happy every morning you wake up. The Greeks had a saying about this which I cannot recall just now but it fits the circumstances.

And, by the way, marijuana is a weed which is airborne and settles wherever it can. So Malta may well be full of these plants. In India there is a plant, rather a tree, called Bhang tree. It grows wild in the northern parts of India. Big bears coming down from the foothills of the himalayas are always there - 30 or 40 of them each under one tree because they are addicted to the bhang and they sleep there and even stop eating because they are so addicted.

I'm not religious at all, but nature has its beguilements. Avoid the weed simply because it grows in Malta.

dont u go 2 prison if they catch u with cannabis in malta? after all the police havent much real crime 2 deal with on the island

Actually I heard they throw you in the sea with cement around your ankles....there's supposed to be a dive site off Comino where you can go see past offenders....

...or else they take you to the fish farms, and throw you in there with a sardine necklace on...apparently the tuna are developing a taste for human flesh....we call them the Pirahanas of St Pauls....

Basically, if you get caught, the police are going to ask you two questions only....."Do you wanna go diving, or do you wanna go fishing??....
