42 ways of handling that question.

Yes men listen. yes men know to stop listening. No men dont know to pretend listening, they get caught all the time trying... laugh

Don't you find yourself doing it in the classroom sometimes Elley? I do, when for the umpteenth time the students tell you what they did at the weekend. Spanish students rarely say anything different than I went to the beach or the country with my friends or my family!

I always manage to feign interest though, whilst silently screaming.

As for men, it depends what the woman he is with is saying and how long they've been together. I can remember my ex suffering numerous bouts of amnesia when I brought up something I'd been talking to him about.

Listening is a skill as we teachers know, but many people have lost the capability to do so preferring instead to read.....emails, texts, forum posts! laugh

You got a point there.

Still nothing beats laying down with your other half in the darkness after bed time and planning the new sofas, discussing the neighbours failures or simply figuring out why the dog has been so tired lately. Somehow, to not see makes you hear and think in a tune much more vivid - and keeps you listening.

AS IN:

Yakety Yak

The Coasters

Take out the papers and the trash
Or you don't get no spendin' cash
If you don't scrub that kitchen floor
You ain't gonna rock and roll no more
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

Just finish cleanin' up your room
Let's see that dust fly with that broom
Get all that garbage out of sight
Or you don't go out Friday night
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

You just put on your coat and hat
And walk yourself to the laundromat
And when you finish doin' that
Bring in the dog and put out the cat
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

Don't you give me no dirty looks
Your father's hip; he knows what cooks
Just tell your hoodlum friend outside
You ain't got time to take a ride
Yakety yak (don't talk back)

Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak

Yakety yak, yakety yak

And don't talk back!!!!!!

Everything is changed and still D'oh!

Well, I should be lucky I guess, but honestly, I am just worried.

some men listen
some men hear

men have a different perception of what is important to listen, they usually miss the subtle words. Women are not too good at being too direct, maybe it's because we're curvy.
