About me and who I'm looking for

About me:

Medical geneticist, practicing physician, research and teaching professor, full-time faculty at Stanford University Medical School and then at the University of Rochester, I recently decided to retire because I simply wasn't having enough time to play!
Grew up on a farm in rural Maine in a working class environment.
Have lived in Maine, NYC, Boston, Palo Alto, Rochester, NY, and now Seattle.
Have three quite wonderful and talented adult "children" who live in Seattle and San Francisco. 4 year old grandson, Alexander (“The Greatest”), and Zachary and Sam, who arrived during a 10 days period in late April 2003!
Physically fit, love to hike, walk and backpack.
Rarely watch TV, read voraciously, like to cook (though I have much to learn), and to travel and explore (past adventures: much of the US and Canada, England, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Denmark, West Africa, Iraq, Egypt, New Zealand, China, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala). I thoroughly enjoy theatre, ballet and opera. Enjoy ballroom dancing, and music is a special love (jazz, folk, blues, classical, opera (about 1500 cds), and playing my completely reconditioned 1913 Steinway piano. Other toys, including a powerboat,kayak, canoe, bicycles, scuba gear, motorcycle, much camping and hiking gear, etc. I enjoy wines (with meals), do not smoke, and must have laughter in my life. Though I am quite active, I also enjoy quiet times (reading by the fire, walking aimlessly on a remote beach looking for shells or fossils, soaking in a hottub (with the right person)).
Have traveled extensively through through Canada and Alaska in my large, comfortable truck-camper.
I am enjoying getting settled in Seattle, especially the very rich local dance scene, Vancouver, and the San Juan Islands! I have recently bought a home which is being renovated and reconstructed, and have bought some other investment properties. Much of this (and the move) have kept me busy during the past year, but I am now ready to play

I am looking for an intellectually inquisitive and explorative (retains a child-like curiosity in the most powerful and open sense possible), fit and active, playful, family-oriented, independent (yet considerate), mature, attractive woman who likes to laugh more than (nearly) any thing else. She is potentially interested in a long-term partnership which will enhance and sustain continuing individual development, and which will nourish careful, loving attention to imaginative enhancement of daily routines and activities, so that couple growth continues to evolve over the years.
