About me and who I'm looking for

About me:

I'm 44 years old, I've been divorced since 1991. I have brought up 2 intelligent and beautiful daughters mostly on my own - got alot of help from my family :-) I'm very proud of them and myself. It has been rough going, but we made it! I haven't had much time to think about myself over the years. Now as my girls are getting older and leaving the nest my thoughts have turned more towards me and what I'm going to do with my time. I'm a pretty basic, uncomplicated person. I love to be outside, I enjoy gardening, long walks, fishing, flea markets, being by the water, and of course camp fires! I'm looking for someone with similar interests and someone whose children are about the same age as mine or maybe a little older. I don't want to play games, I'm looking for a long-term relationship. Someone I can be there for and someone who will be there for me :-) I'm pretty patient, considerate and empathetic. I think I would enjoy get-a-way weekends (not had that opportunity in the past). I like to cook (especially for and with someone who really appreciates it - you know kids - if it's not pizza, tacos or french fries they're not impressed). Staying home and snuggling up to watch a movie is awesome! I do however, enjoy going to outdoor concerts - DTE is great! I love animals and volunteer at the Humane Society. I have a toy poodle - and he's my baby.

I'm looking for:

My guy would be divorced (so he understands what it's like to be married) and have children around the same phase of life as my two girls or a little farther along (so he also understands what it's like to have kids). He needs to have a sense of humor and doesn't get all uptight over small stuff. He should have a good relationship with his parents, siblings and his children. Your family is your family for the rest of your life - there's no escaping it (no matter how much we wish we could sometimes)! He should be able to financially take care of himself and his children. He should enjoy the outdoors and building/repairing stuff. He should be able to show and speak his feelings. Nothing better than a big bear hug and an I love you to get your morning started! Well, maybe, but that would come after the big bear hug and I love you...
