About me: For many people, work is what you do in order to have the means to do the things you love to do. I'm luckier than many: I love my job! There's real joy in creating something beautiful that will still be around long after I'm gone. But I also look forward to my evenings and weekends. When I'm not building stained glass windows, I might be found at a traditional dance, such as English or Scottish Country dancing, American Contra dancing, or my favorite, International Folk dancing. I'm in a folkloric choir singing traditional Sacred Harp. An odd pastime for a free-thinker like me, but the music is breathtaking. I also play Native American flute and African, Middle Eastern and Irish drums. I find many old traditions very charming and worthwhile. I spend some evenings at home watching a movie and knitting, or reading. I don't watch TV. I have a small house on a couple of acres in the country near the small but surprisingly worldly town of Fairfield. I have a daughter who just got married, and I have three cats and a dog.
I'm looking for: Traditional Dance forms are the ultimate team sport! Many minds and bodies focused on one thing and making it come out right, and having a lot of fun in the process! I have had partners who were not dancers, but if a relationship is to last, he'll have to be on the dance floor because that's where I'll be. Or in the choir, or beating my drum. The best dancing is International Folk dancing, the traditional dances of many countries. They are so varied, and the music is infectious. There's no way to predict which matches will click and go the distance, but there are two things which will kill my interest before it starts: smoking and sports. If you're a smoker or a sports fan, don't waste my time. If you dance or think you can learn, give me a second look.
