I travel to Ireland at least twice a year. I am a gregarious recent widower with a keen sense of humor who has discovered through years of experience that age comes at a bad time! I am above ground and vertical (some may say that's a feat in itself), lively, and fun-loving. I still have a lot to learn and, to paraphrase the great Will Rogers, there are three kinds of men....some learn by reading and some learn by observation. Unfortunately, there are the rest of us who have to pee on the electric fence to learn the hard way.
My heritage is 100 percent Irish with both sets of grandparents having emigrated to America in the late 1800s. My paternal grandparents were from Co. Cork and my maternal grandparents from Co. Donegal.
I am the author of a published work on Irish history entitled "Growing the Shamrock, Tuning the Fiddle." and am now working on my seconds book on how "The Troubles" have affected the young people of Northern Ireland which tentatively I'm entitling "Bigots, Bombs, and Bullets".
I enjoy doing just about anything...I like to hike, walk the beach, pony trek, listen to music (except opera...I'll fake that)....you name it. I am comfortable in anything from black tie to faded jeans...even a kilt.
I'm looking for: My ideal match would be one who complements the traits described in my profile. I would like to meet someone who enjoys trying new things in life. A good sense of humor is a MUST. Loyalty, ethics, and strong character are VERY important. Must like the outdoors, especially the mountains and sea. While an attractively wrapped package catches the eye, the gift inside is much more important than the wrapping
