About me: I am tall, slim, fit, educated, handy. Reasonably attractive:Look like???a cross between Judy Collins, Diane Keaton, Loretta Lynn. Too private to post photo online but would be glad to email one if mutual interests develop ( I am catherineaura at who preceded by ya.). Recently retired science professor. Attempting to retreat from the world at large so my old fashioned sense of ethics doesn't cause me any more trouble than it already has. I am restoring a large 1850’s adobe in a small, remote village in northern New Mexico. I have chickens, greenhouse, garden and fruit trees. Eight months of the year it’s beautiful; winter is rural survival. I’m doing 90% of the work myself, living in the construction zone. It’s a real edifice wrecks.
Southwest desert/mountain/river rat. Good sense of humor, I like word-play and Gary Larson type humor (neither rely on the chagrin of others for their impact). Interests: adobe restoration, live music, anything outdoors, reading, ethics, NPR, dancing, cooking, southwest history and culture, travel, gardening, critters. High spirited but not very "spiritual", non-religious, non-mystic. Mostly left-brain. Not high maintenance; enjoy time alone as well as time creating romance together.
I'm looking for: My companion: fit, educated, outdoorsy, non-smoker. I'd like a balance of head (intelligence), heart (ability to express emotion) and hands (craftsmanship). Would be nice to find an articulate friend and mate with good self-esteem (Your woman's strength and intelligence will be a source of pride, not threat), a great sense of humor, a passion for one or several of life's endeavors. Playing or enthusiastically appreciating music a plus; also dancing! A guy who can work with his hands as well as his brain, who is a nature lover but not a mystic about it. Income, flashy cars and expensive vacations do not impress me; your intelligence, relationship to the land, love of critters and satisfaction in working with your hands will. My friends joke about my wanting a Harvard-educated cowboy.
