About me: I want to find new friends and acquaintances. I like diverse kinds of people. I enjoy learning new things. It seems like I will spend 20 years of my life "starting" to learn Spanish. It kind of drives me nuts--starting and stopping for 20 years. But I do make progress with other reading and with music (as well as my base-line as a runner). I studied History, Science and Music at college (finished May 2000). I love to jog every morning very early. I usually start out while the morning is still dark. So, I have to be careful of where I am going. But I love that part of my life! I also love medium long bicycle rides--especially when the weather is very hot and sunny (but, also when the weather is cold). So far I don't plan on learning to bicycle in the dark--so, I am safe from breaking my neck!
My present work is great in many ways. But I am Open to new things; and trying to plan for the future. I ask my sister's cat, Ruby (not the cat's real name), for advice but she merely blinks and rubs me (no advice!)
I am still reading "Free Play: Improvisation in Life and Art", Stephen Nachmanovitch. It is good for me! And...in the middle of two plays--"Lone Star", which was OK; and now "Laundry and Bourbon" which is much better, and which adds meaning and texture to it's pair, "Lone Star." Writers are awesome!
For many years I have been devoting a lot of time and energy to practicing and studying flute, piano and singing. It is funny that some things--such as singing--can become a study in how to live. Singing teachers can challenge us to to grow inside and embrace the hidden areas within ourselves and with in other people. She has currently been directing me toward explorations in movement. I keep my eyes closed while doing these 'dances' (hopefully, I'll improve); so, you can imagine how many things I bang into.
I love finding out about other people's lives; it makes everything so meaningful.
I'm looking for: I like many contrasting "types." I think people who are inclined to athletics are a good match with me. But my friends are usually not athletic at all. So, I don't know. I hope for new friends and acquaitances. I like genuine friendships, and I hope for long-term friends.
