About me: I enjoy exploring new places, new ideas and re-exploring the familiar. I'm a Discovery/NatGeo/History channel junkie and probably have NO clue about the latest sitcom, TV drama or celebrity gossip.
I enjoy the outdoors. I like day hikes and long drives, taking the scenic route when possible. I enjoy cycling and can handle myself around horses. I'm not much of a team sports guy with the possible exception of baseball.
I enjoy reading. If I can say I have a favorite author, its Orson Scott Card. I also enjoy Pratchett, Frank/Brian Herbert, Glen Cook, Larry Niven, some Piers Anthony, hit or miss with Crichton. I also like the occasional philosophy (Rand), astronomy (Hawking) or futurist (Michio Kaku) book.
Music is a big part of my life. I'm one who believes life has a soundtrack. My tastes are kinda quirky but classic rock, 80's progressive & roadhouse blues make up a big chunk of the list.
I'm looking for: Deep down, I'm looking for my best friend.
- Someone who can laugh at the silliness of life in this society and also laugh at themselves
- Someone who practices the simple concepts of honesty, integrity and responsibility. I'm honest enough to tell the truth even when it shows me in a bad light and am naive enough to expect the same of others.
- Someone who has an intellectual curiosity about the world around us
- Someone who can enjoy a long chat about absolutely nothing (enjoyed on pointless "just needed to get outta the city for a while" roadtrip is even better)
- Someone who understands that sometimes the best things we can do for society is the small things - giving blood, volunteering, stopping to help someone who is broken down on the side of the road. Its all about the little things done often, not writing an occasional check.
- Someone who truly treats others the way they would like to be treated themselves, from the kid working at McD's to your coworkers, and doesn't just give lip service to it
