About me and who I'm looking for

About me:

My personality is sort hard to understand. The best way that I can describe it is that there is an initial "shell" of outgoingness that I put on for people who I am around often. It is superficiality - for being around them, it's fine. Beneath that is a lot of quietness, shyness and nervousness, fear, awkwardness and introversion. That is what I display to people with whom I have exhausted the initial social possibilities (after I am done asking all the obvious personal questions, chances are I will become very quiet because I don't know what to say next). Underneath that is a lot of thoughtfulness and a wish to share with someone else.

My sense of humor is based a lot in longshot puns, observations of the marvelously over-the-top, and, of course, what happens where I work.

My interests include: Percussion, reading, music, programming (games, in particular), running and bicycling.

My goal of dating is to reach a point where you trust someone enough to share deeply. I've never gotten to that point with someone, as never really get beyond the awkward masking that goes on in most dating. I do not believe that "chemistry" is necessary to reach this sort of sharing, but factors such as intelligence, honesty and respect certainly are.

In terms of religion and spirituality, I remain in sort of an awkward place. I would like to believe in larger forces, God, etc. However, at this point in my life I can come up with no suitably compelling reason to believe in anything more specific than a generally intelligent, perhaps benevolent creator.

I'm looking for:

There are a number of factors that I look for in someone with whom I share attraction. Attractiveness, as much as I try to tell myself otherwise, does play something of a role. However, I would argue that the role it plays in my determinations is minimal. Intelligence is certainly important. I would prefer to find someone who is not techno-phobic, who keeps an open mind and is willing to cultivate an interest in computers and, perhaps, the science behind them. The reason behind this is because this is what I am doing with my life. If that deep sharing that I referred to earlier has any chance of succeeding, interest in one another's interests is absolutely vital. To reciprocate, I maintain an active interest in all elements of the Universe around me, and am more than willing to be interested in whatever you're interested in :).

Aside from these, I like someone who has a good heart, noble intentions, honesty, and, hopefully, a sweet voice.
