About my life and what I'm looking for

I consider myself a very down-to-earth, personable, intelligent, good-natured, and sensitive kinda guy with a strong sense of self. I'm pretty much a lifelong nonconformist and am prepared to challenge authority, especially when I feel something is being mishandled or someone is being unfairly treated. I am a very good negotiator and because of my interpersonal skills, I usually am able to come to mutual agreements without alienating adversaries. I have a broad range of interests and a very active mind. I am into Eastern philosophy and enjoy learning about different cultures. I am always open to intellectual discussions on almost any topic. I was an undergraduate English major and still read a lot of serious literature; on the other hand I subscribe to Entertainment Weekly and similar magazines, and like to keep on the cutting edge of culture. I am looking for someone who is easygoing, understanding, passionate and compassionate, and open to new ideas and experiences. I am a licensed therapist and clinical director of a residential mental health agency. I truly enjoy my work, have been in the counseling field for over 25 years, and have been at my present job for 18. A great sense of humor (offbeat, irreverent) is important to me and, without it, I don’t know if I could get through the day. I tend to be a skeptic but also feel that some notion of something existing greater than we mere mortals is unavoidable. I feel fortunate to have grown up in the sixties and still maintain some of those ideals. I was a drummer in several rock bands in my younger days and music is one of my greatest passions. I enjoy reading, websurfing, offbeat movies, nature, traveling, the arts. I am seeking a like-minded woman to share life’s intimacies and adventures, and establish an island of safety and security amidst the craziness of this topsy-turvy world we live in.
