About me and who I'm looking for

About me:

Until 2003 I worked as a research scientist in the field of structural materials. I am currently taking a year or three off to do some serious travelling. I have just started 6 months in the Australian outback travelling by 4-wheel drive with occasional returns to civilisation in order to update my internet travel blog. Longer term I intend to look for a job in Austraia and move over there. I am very easy-going and have a dry sense of humour. I am a good listener and I find it interesting and enjoyable to get to know new people.

I'm looking for:

I'm looking for people to meet in the various places I go as although travelling alone is fun, it is sometimes nice to have someone to talk to, especially if they have expert local knowledge. Areas I'll be visiting: Darwin - Alice Springs - Broken Hill - Canberra and anywhere in between.

I speculate that my ideal long-term partner would have a very logical frame of mind, prefer a 1 to 1 conversation rather than a social group setting, like straight, literal communication and also be young enough for several years of irresponsible fun on our own before the biological clock requires us to make a decision about children (I note that all my married friends got broody eventually). But I could be wrong.
