Description: Use your intelligence to help these people cross the bridge before the lamp runs out.

How to play: In this game you help the people cross the bridge. A lamp must be carried when crossing the bridge and it can only last for 30 minutes. The bridge can only take 2 persons at the same time and each person walks at different speeds. So you need to plan the combinations of the persons crossing the bridge carefully.

I agree its not possible with the stated numbers. Are you getting different numbers?
I get 1,3,6,8,12.
calculating:
trip 1: 1 and 3 - 3 mins
1 goes back - 1 min
1 and 6 - 6 mins
1 goes back - 1 min
1 and 8 - 8 mins
1 goes back 1 min
1 and 12 - 12 mins
total of 3+1+6+1+8+1+12 = 32 mins

why does 1 minute do all the work?..can't 8 and 12 cross together..?

Work it out.. Think around the problem not through it..

and the total is 29 minutes...

8 and 12 can cross together, but coming back one needs to carry the lamp, so its 8 mins back, thats 20 already. and the 8 also has to cross again. so using the fastest to always cross with shortest time would be the 1 min. Now if more then 2 could cross it can be done or throwing the lamp back across would also work.
