Snow White and the Huntsman Movie (2012)
In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.
Snow White, imprisoned daughter of the late king, escapes just as the Magic Mirror declares her the source of the Evil Queen's immortality. The Queen sends her men, led by a local huntsman, to bring her back. But upon her capture, the huntsman finds he's being played and turns against the Queen's men, saving Snow White in the process. Meanwhile, Snow's childhood friend, William, learns that she is alive and sets off to save her.

With so many modern interpretations of classic stories, it can be difficult to wade through the good and the bad. Having an all-star cast of Kristen Stewart, who plays Snow White, Charlize Theron who plays the evil queen and Liam Hemsworth, who plays the huntsman, it seems this is a movie destined for success.
While there are certainly high-gauge action scenes and many ethereal backgrounds, the movie can seem slow at times. It seems there should be more depth to the romance that sparks between Snow White and the huntsman, but it remains lukewarm, at best.
Charlize Theron, as the evil queen, is a marvel to behold. Not only does Charlize spectacularly play an evil queen, she still shows how ravishingly beautiful she truly is, despite all her hideous deeds.
Kristen, as Snow White, displays both beauty and grit. You see a character that not only brings a renewed strength and joy to everyone around her, but also, someone who is determined to avenge her father's death. Unlike the classic tale, where Snow White is saved by the handsome prince, this movie's Snow White has a fight and courage within her.
Snow White is able to overcome countless obstacles in order to save herself so she can reclaim her kingdom. Charlize, as the evil queen, does everything in her power to capture Snow White, this includes sending her army after her and using magic.
Liam Hemsworth, playing the huntsman, is the grungy hero-in-training in this magical tale that takes the traditional story and gives it a twist.. Towards the end of the movie, his sensitive side starts to balance out the grunge, making him more refined through his series of tribulations and revelations.
The movie even includes the dwarves and attempts to convey how they came to be a part of Snow White's band.
Overall, the movie offers exquisite special effects and an amazingly evil queen. Kristen Stewart shows a range not seen in her Twilight movies. At the end of the movie, there seems to be a hint that there is more to come and you feel that you still want to see more of the story.
