Shane rides into a conflict between cattleman Ryker and a bunch of settlers, like Joe Starrett and his family, whose land Ryker wants. When Shane beats up Ryker's man Chris, Ryker tries to buy him. Then Shane and Joe take on the whole Ryker crew. Ryker sends to Cheyenne for truly evil gunslinger Wilson. Shane must clear out all the guns from the valley.

not just another western, shane, the reluctant gunfighter, who knows the way of the gunfighter is coming to an end, but cant escape, alan ladds greatest performence, as he tries to change his life, working on a homestead, and was there ever a better baddie than jack palance, all in black, slow almost snake/slither like movements, a lot of the story is told through the eyes of a child. no sign of hollywood gloss, the sets are dull, muddy and the skies overcast. a classic,
i recommend this movie to my freinds. if you havnt seen it you need to. truly a special film. when shane rides into town to take care of business......jack palance is pure classy evil.
I had to read the book for my english exam at school,many moons ago,I only watched the film last year and really enjoyed it!!!
