Love's Deadly Sleep

Twice my death was so near
yet never caused such grief!
Now for me it holds no fear
if the end would bring relief!

Love in life can be so sad
with me in stress and worry!
I wonder would it be so bad
for my life to end in glory!

No big thing finding death
to spite a past false wife!
Then my soul could unearth
at the end of a lonely life!

Better now if I were to die
my love life a fitful fever!
See I clearly with inner eye
should I love yet leave her!

Perhaps all I need is sleep
to relieve my troubled head!
Were I to delve into my deep
would a life’s love lie dead?

Thank you gypsyheart-When you suffer sleepless nights due to a broken heart any sleep is sweet relief-but I think the real answer is to ignore your heart and let your head take over-if possible:-)
