Layers

I peel back a layer and what do I see
A planet, brilliantly glowing - the color of land and sea
I peel back a layer and what do I see
A Nation, relentlessly fraying – unwavering conviction, they alone hold the key
I peel back a layer and what do I see
A person, patiently giving – nurturing, harvesting seedlings of life into a majestic tree
I peel back a layer and what do I see
A child, fearfully crying – perception compromised by the teary vision of reality
I peel back a layer and what do I see
A soul, lovingly rejoicing – sensually marveling in the experience, to simply be
I peel back a layer and what do I see
Ether, ineffably existing - everything that is and is not me
