Promised

Author: Dementia

Empty promises, as she left
She went away, from everything I gave
Should've seen her face
As we said goodbye
Holding back my tears
I couldn't let her see me cry
As she went away, should've seen her face
Never seen her cry like that before
As she walked out the door
And I could've cried, 'cause the tears in her eyes
I was all she had
And I lied

When I promised her love
I promised her pain
I promised her the world
And everything, I couldn't give

Now she's gone, and I'm alone
She left me standing here, with these tears
Falling from my eyes
And I feel so lost inside
How could I have been so blind, to let her go
But I should've known
That she would turn away
It killed me
To see the tears falling down her face

When I promised her love
I promised her pain
I promised her the world
And everything, I couldn't give
