Humility

Author: johnnyboe

Much of life is filled with tasks as we begin each day,

But much of life is wonderful if we can think that way.

Let us look at all the people from every walk of life,

They are no different in their stress and strife.

Wouldn't it be great to embrace each human life,

Instead of waging war and slice them with a knife.

Let us look at others as we would want them to stop and see,

That we as people are human and happy to be free.

So as you wake each and every day just smile at someone new,

Make them feel wanted they'll smile right back at you.

There are no guarantees and life may not be fair,

But we must keep our faith and keep our Lord so very near.

Next time you see someone in need of help or care,

Don't just turn away in hopelessness or fear.

Humility is simple just keep it in your heart,

Then you 'll realize you had it from the start.

LOL, thanks my friend, there are many people that I have met in my travels that are more worthy then I. I find it most satisfying to be honest and free with myself and people then to be the devils bait and live in fear of my existence.

'The madman jumped into their midst and pierced them with his eyes. "Whither is God?" he cried; "I will tell you. We have killed him---you and I. All of us are his murderers. But how did we do this? How could we drink up the sea? Who gave us the sponge to wipe away the entire horizon? What were we doing when we unchained this earth from its sun? Whither is it moving now? Whither are we moving? Away from all suns? Are we not plunging continually? Backward, sideward, forward, in all directions? Is there still any up or down? Are we not straying, as through an infinite nothing? Do we not feel the breath of empty space? Has it not become colder? Is not night continually closing in on us? Do we not need to light lanterns in the morning? Do we hear nothing as yet of the noise of the gravediggers who are burying God? Do we smell nothing as yet of the divine decomposition? Gods, too, decompose. God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him.' (Friedrich Nietzsche)

You speak of a world that no longer exists...as if the world could be enlightened by your Judeo-Christain morality. This poem made me cringe - not because of its structure but its very nature and philosophy. And what of all of those people that will not venture to the supposed fortunate frontiers of your humanity? What if I choose to be selfish, egoistic and malevolent...is it your place to judge? Your words are antagonistic to any philosophy that is not of your own conviction...therefore you are hypocritical in this poem...aren't you? If not please explain. You demand at the very root of your words that your advise be listened to...what has made you so wise? Does not war create within us the energy to believe in the very principles you speak of...without war how would new generations identify what is, as you say, humanity? My words may be crude and harsh but at least they are honest.

WONDERFUL!!! I love this poem. You have such a great outlook on life. I think it is great, what you write. So encouraging and positive. It should give hope and direction for others to see life in such a manner. You are good my friend! Keep blessing us with more! God Bless You. Peace and Hugs from Angels!

Sir, your vast experience in life expresses itself in your words! Very positive.

Shakespeare, yes you are right that without war humanity will not understand its true values. While I understand your argument intellectually, one (as a human being) connects emotionally with Johnny's thoughts.

Cheers!

Thank you all for your comments, negative and positive. I am not here to push my beliefs on others nor do I make judgements of others. To embrace my own existance and to share my feelings through my poems is my way of living a free and happy life.
