We Have Fallen
Author: solost82I'm not perfect and I cannot pretend to be so.
I'm no greater than the least of us.
Yet I feel the weight of everyone else's problems crushing me.
My bloodshot eyes burn from sleep deprivation,
And my body aches, but sleep comes for me not.
Despair is starting to set in and anxiety is creeping into my core.
I am sickened by the perversion that is consuming this world.
It swarms like locusts, gluttonous and vile.
We live for our own selfish gain,
With no regard for the sanctity of life.
We are the plague upon ourselves.
Is there no hope for us...
What have we become...
I'm ashamed to call myself a human being.
Weak and feeble creatures we are.
The answers lie within the fragile lives.
Embrace weakness and you will find the strengh to overcome.

Thank you sir. Though I fear for mankind as a whole. It's true that individuals can make a difference. But the amount of influence that a single person has is limited, even for the most influential of people. From a realistic perspective, it's only a matter of time before we achieve our own demise. We are a tragic race. The saddest thing of all, is that we are writing our own screenplay tradgedy willingly...

A rare, prurely romantic poem in our era, full of compassion; I enjoyed it and adore your humanitarianist feelings dear Solost.

Many thanks to you as well Mr. Neostylites. I'm almost beginning to like the poetry tank better than the blog tank. There's too many sharks in the blog tank. But here, everyone seems like genuine individuals.

You do have a point Mr. Rob. Sometimes I lose sight of hope in the face of adversity, but I cannot let it hold me back. Because if I do, I'm not doing anymore good than someone who is doing harm. I'm just doing less harm...
