A Snowman In Spring

Dare I in willingness, enter yon hell again
and look into the bewitching pools too often,
that I, though not innocent, be caught again
and lust enough that my poor heart will soften?

Dare I cunningly, with a hunter's concentration
stalk a prey and seek out one of God's creation,
that I, knowingly, will always fall the deepest,
and that I will, with certainly, be the weakest?

Dare I be the riding knight so glowing and brave
that I feebly become this other person's slave,
dare I, wholeheartedly, fall in love once more
that my heart be trapped, again bruised and sore?
