A Princess Rests

A Princess Rests

A princess kneels before her God
asking forgiveness for the hounds
on earth where she has not long trod
for selfish acts that know no bounds!

To satisfy a tabloid's editorial hack
bloodsuckers pursue two to a pommel
on the saddle of society's insipid back
chasing Diana to the end of her tunnel!

Now hyenas and jackels everywhere
hang their scavenging heads in shame
while the jungle drums still rumble here
those artful animals can hold no blame!

So, near God's feet a princess rests
in innocence dying before her time
free at last from life's parasitic pests
in death forgiving all peoples crime!

Today who will admit as to the blame
of this unprecedented murderous deed
should all society not feel the shame
would it be, had we not felt a need?
